My cat wants to eat my babys feet.

My cat is mostly apathetic towards our new baby, but a few times, she has tried to playfully grab her feet. When she does this with adults, she grabs, digs her claws in, and bites...then when you try to get away, she does it harder. She is obviously just playing, but it hurts...I know if she gets a hold of the baby, it will hurt her, and that does not make me happy. She also really wants to be in the baby's stuff...her car seat, her basinett, her swing. She sheds a ton and leaves hair in all of these things, which just bothers me with a new baby...I worry about her developing allergies or asthma.

Before this baby, the CATS were my babies and I loved them more than anything...To my surprise, in my hormonal, mother lioness state, I find myself thinking, "I should just find a new home for this **** cat!" I don't want to do that, nor do I want to feel that way, but at the same time, baby does come first. Is there anything I can do about my cats behavior?

I was worried about allergies with all our critters around ds but so far it has been just fine. I know at first I found I was more nervous than I anticipated with the animals. I have one cat I do not trust alone with ds still (she can be an aggressive cuddler) but otherwise I've found I've definitely relaxed about it as he's gotten bigger (he's 7 months now).

When kitty wants to play with dc just stop it immediately & redirect the cat. She'll get the picture.

I think baby things are irresistable for cats. It's warm, enclosed & soft - making for a perfect sleeping spot. I keep doors closed & just accept that sometimes the cats make themselves comfy in his places (but as ds is never alone with a cat that means the cats are never cuddled up around him).

I have heard that cats hate foil - maybe put foil down on the baby things when not in use for a few days? And I would take a water squirter after her if she goes near the baby's feet.
