Oh yeah! I was the first of the pregnant vegans to give birth. DD is 4.5 months now. Solid foods are coming up in a month or so!!

I started eating dairy while I was pregnant and unfortunately still haven't returned to being vegan! Ack. I am eating a ton and still losing weight. I'm eating more than my husband and losing weight. I'm 5 lbs under pre-preg. This nursing is incredible! I wonder if it is making me still want heavier foods? The dairy has decreased but it's no gone yet.

I haven't kept up with the preg vegan thread in a while....who's had their babes?

Hey hey hey! What a great thread idea!

Lizzy and Lindsay. The rest of you I don't know yet. I missed the active Preg Vegans thread; it was kind of inactive during my pregnancy.

Baby Girl and I are here, vegan-ing along (DH is omni). Baby's been refusing solids for the last couple of days--I think her teeth are bothering her.

Cindy, are you getting concerned about your weight loss, or is it still ok? Unfortunately I don't have that problem. I'm even on an elimination diet, and I am tubby. Tubbier than right after I gave birth! Blah.

Yeah, so I've eliminated dairy (of course), soy, and was off gluten, but just reintroduced it. The elimination diet totally cleared up Baby Girl's eczema.

Vegan cupcake: Nope, not concerned...thrilled is more like it! I was 130 before preg and 125 now. At 5'4" I could still stand to lose a few more and not be underweight. I don't really want to get below 120. But of course even though I'm losing weight I'm still all mushy. Pregnancy really changed the shape of my body. And I haven't exactly been working out like I used to these days!

I am within a week or three of officially joining this thread

Ok Lizzy, that makes me feel a bit better, because I am an eating machine. My motto is "What can I eat now?"

I'm gonna be lurking and asking questions. hi!

this is interesting to me since the husband has severe eczema and I used to /sometimes have a mild version so future baby is bound to end up with our genes. did you expect her to potentially get eczema and avoid anything during your pregnancy? thanks!

oceane!

No, I actually didn't anticipate the eczema, though I probably should have, since I had it as a child (and occasionally as an adult). I was kind of in denial about it, too, for a while. But Baby Girl had this face rash that was the hallmark of food allergy, and it wouldn't go away, so I finally knuckled down and did the eliminations.

So going to be making my way over soon
Must create baby.

Thanks for the thread, like all, I'm going to learn a lot surely.

Ooh! Can I join in here?

DD is almost 9 months and we are doing BLW. Our whole family is vegan and would love to share info and hear stories about other vegans. Great thread! Subbing!

Thanks LizzyQ!
Let's see.... I have a 6 year old daughter. Vegan is all she knows. I was vegan for several years before conception. I'm pretty hardcore vegan. Not just my diet, but my entire philosophy of lifestyle.
(I know not everyone is as hardcore as I am & I'm not here to judge, I'm just stating where I am, since everyone else stated where they stand )
Congrats : to all the new little people in the world!
It's great that we can continue this little journey together... some of us from TTC, and then through pregnancy and now here

My #2 LO will be here in October. The little pumpkin!

So happy for this thread!
I just had my baby boy 4 weeks ago - I've been vegan for 5 years (for ethical reasons, see Animal Rights) and I plan to raise my little Pavi vegan as well. (DH is vegan too). :

Looking forward to learning from the vegan mamas and sharing my experiences.

DS1 is vegan since birth, and DS2 will be too.. DH is also vegan.. I *would* be if I could quit cheese... it's just as bad as smoking!

what are you giving your daughter to eat/try right now? or what does she choose herself?
oceane, I'm not Baby_Cakes, but we do BLW, too.

The babe loves lots of the stuff I've been making lately in my new cooking venture. She really liked the blueberry pancakes and black bean burgers in V'con; I just give her a hunk of each and she takes little bites.

She also loves hummus on a hunk of tortilla, broccoli florets, sweet potato fries, peas, watermelon, canteloupe--pretty much anything I put in front of her. She gets really mad if I try to spoon-feed her, so we don't try anymore!

Sebastian has always preferred to feed himself too.. he does really well with a spoon and fork now, but as a baby he always used his hands and fingers.

I never gave him jarred cereal either.. just mushed up whatever we were eating (taking into consideration certain foods that can cause allergies the first 6-12 months).
