Felting

I tried to felt a few different sweaters and they seem - hairy - for lack of a better word!

They definitely 'felted' but there are fibers sticking out everywhere and it seems that they would shed, all the time.

The tags in the sweaters all say 100% wool, 2 have care instructions as hand wash, one dry clean. I've tumbled them in the drier on air dry hoping some of the 'hair' would come off. Not so much.

What could I make with them where it would be okay that they shed? I didn't have a specific project in mind when I felted them and now that they are done they seem useless! I have the book Warm Fuzzies...lots of inspiration, but my fabric does not seem that useful.

Rats.

Are they felted as tightly as they're going to go? Have you tried shaving them?

Hmmm, I assume they are felted all the way. How would I really know? The one that is really 'hairy' was a mens vest, I'd say a med/large (no tag) and would fit my very average sized 2yr. old. It got really small, thick and seems tight.

Shave it - can I use a regular razor? I don't have one of those sweater shavers - not in the budget to buy anything right now.
