fresh fruit which keeps long/well?

We have a cellar which is almost dark and pretty cool.

We have been keeping kiwi's and pineapples for 2-3 weeks there with success during the summer months but I am wondering if there is other fresh fruit which can be stored for long periods without going bad?

I'd like to stock up on some other things but didn't know what would work.

Does anyone know off hand of fruits/veggies which will store in that environment for a prolonged period?

Root veggies (potatoes, onions, carrots, turnips, beets, parsnips, etc.), winter squash, cabbage (the kind with the tight round heads keep better than napa or curly-leaf types), green tomatoes.

For fruits - apples, citrus, hard melons (like watermelon - not cantaloupe), some hard varieties of pears.

Pretty much none of your summer fruits or veggies will keep well - you want items that are hard and don't mind cold weather - which is usually fall/winter crops. If you're buying from the grocery store though, you have to be careful - a lot of this stuff has already been in cold storage for months by the time you get to it.
