Brand Education Please

Thread Starter
I'd like to be educated by all you wise mamas on the food we eat.

I try to go to the farmer's market for meat, eggs, fruit and veggies. I'd like to know what brands are good to buy at the store for things like canned sauces, bread, yogurt, butter, pasta, etc.

Are brands like Earthbound Farms and such ok for fruit/veggies that are not in season locally?

What about regular brands selling organic versions of their products?

TIA!

I buy organic whenever available/affordable. Earthbound Farms is a brand that I buy often - mostly carrots, celery & onions.

For dairy, I like Organic Valley - butter, milk, etc. I hate to admit it, but I buy Dannon yogurt because tbh, I just don't like Stonyfield, and feel like Horizon is no better than Dannon so why pay the extra? (And my local grocery store only carries fat-free horizon, which I refuse to buy).

For other stuff, it just depends on whats available. I try to only buy whole wheat pasta, and organic when I can get it, but if its a choice between organic white pasta & non-organic whole wheat, I'll go for the WW every day of the week. Cereal I just flat out can't afford organic - we get WIC so I get whats available through them, and otherwise don't buy it. For bread, personally we like Rudi's Honey Sweet Whole Wheat - its light, and delicious!! Lots of people like ezekial bread, but its just too dense for us... As for canned sauces & and such.. meh, whatevers available and cheapest...
