My name is Trisha and I am pregnant with my 3rd child. My daughter is 4.5 and my
son is 2. They both have had severe dental carries in their top front 4 teeth.
My daughters were pulled last summer. My sons has been slower to progress, and
his far left incisor is now completely devoid of enamel (only dentin visible),
and his center left incisor is half gone.

We have started scraping his teeth each night (fun for everyone), and that seems
to have slowed the decay. I am having a hard time getting my husband on board
with some of the nutrition rec's, as well as with limiting sugar and not sharing
things that go in our mouths.

I had perfect teeth... never a cavitiy until I met him. After some reading I
wonder if maybe he has some sort of bacteria in his mouth and by sharing
toothbrushes, scrapers, floss (he reuses his floss for weeks), and drinks he is
infecting us as well. He has had terrible teeth his whole life.

We're getting ready to get some xylitol supplies. I'm going to mix it with our
toothpaste and some baking soda. I"m also going to make a spray type mouthwash
and encourage the gum or candies after each meal or snack.

Any other links or info I can show to my husband would be great.

I do think it is possible that your husband's terrible teeth could be infecting your family. Is it possible that he can go to the dentist and get a bunch of deep cleanings? Also, he should NOT be reusing floss!
the basic thing is you sohuld all make sure you are getting regular dental cleanings and removing plaque and tarter.

Years ago I had a boyfriend for 7 years who had terrible teeth. He never cleaned them (ugh). I had perfect teeth and brushed twice a day but avoided the dentist for ten years. (ugh again). the bacteria from his mouth got into mine and when I finally went to the dentist I had severe periodontal disease and lost a ton of bone and gum. gross. I eneded up having terrible surgeries- bad idea. but now I get cleanings 4 times a year and take meticoulous care, and my fiance ( a different guy) has nice teeth and gets cleanings twice a year.
And friends of mine who had also avoided the dentist for 10 years but didn't have boyfriends with terrible bacteria had no problems when they finally went.

So my point is that I learned from experience that this ex BF's bad teeth infected my mouth. But if I had gone to the dentist and got it regulalrly cleaned out it would have been better.
So please have your husband get his teeth clenaed, don't re use floss- and make sure you and your kids get regular cleanings. Even if you do get bacteria in there, if it is regularly cleaned off it won't build up.
