Microfleece Repelling

I am in desperate need of help here.

All of my microfleece and pul pocket diapers are repelling water--like literally my son is leaving puddles when he pees.

I have stripped with Dawn, tried adding Calgon, boiling, and even bleaching.

The only diaper rash cream I have used--and this is a REALLY long time ago--way before the repelling started--was Northern Essences which is supposed to be safe for cloth diapers.

Does anyone have any other ideas? I'm really at a loss here.

What laundry detergent are you using?

Beth,

Is it leaking out the legs? Do the inserts get wet, or are the mostly dry and the pee just rolls out?

could someone have "accidentally" used dryer sheets or fabric softner? I also wondered about your detergent.

I'm surprised boiling didn't work. I know my friend stripped hers in the dishwasher a couple times when this happened and that worked. Did you try scrubbing the Dawn in with a brush or something?

You must be really frustrated! Hopefully something works!

I have been using Purex Free and Clear and none of my other dipes are having any problems. The others are mostly suede cloth.

I haven't tried the scrubbing the dawn in with a toothbrush thing--mostly because there was absolutely NO bubbles or residue in the water after boiling. The water was completely clear.

I'll try the dishwasher tomorrow--maybe the jets will help?

It just flows down his legs--seriously HUGE gush. I also tried just pouring water on with an insert stuffed inside and it just rolled right off.

No dryer sheets or fabric softener in the house--and we've never washed them anywhere else.
