What should I use to contain BF 6 month olds poop when swimming?

I have Imse Vimse swim diapers but am concerned that they will not hold in my DS's liquidy poop. I was hesitant to use a swim diaper because DS has sensitive skin and regular diapers gave him a rash. Any suggestions?

Does he not have regular bowel movements? I just make sure DD has her morning BM before heading out to the pool.

They also have rubbers. Maybe the plastic liners used for cloth toilet training will hold it in?

I mean, I know we have to make babies wear them in case they poop :

But I never thought the babies actually pooed in the water!

He poops all day long

We have used the Imse Vimse swim diapers for two summers now. Last summer he pooped all day long as well. Anything solid stayed in--anything not so solid didn't.

This is my feeling--You are in the water--no matter what kind of diaper you have them in it gets wet. Which means whatever is inside gets wet as well. How can you keep it all in?

Another Imse Vimse fan here. I have not had a problem, that I know about, with them containing the poop. However, we never went to the pool if/when it was liquidy. That might leak and then you would have a problem. Maybe wait until the poop gets a little bit more solid before venturing out.

Good luck

anything that has an encased leg opening will serve you well. as long as the leg is enclosed it should be fine.

that gives you many options, inclusive of prefolds -- grab a 3 pack of cheapy gerber vinyl pull ups -- they will work great over any prefold in the pool.

The construction of a swim diaper is more like a shell usally, so any pocket minus the stuffings should work fine too. Happy Heiny's makes swimmers as well as the above noted. In the past i have made for my customers all flannel shells with limited soaker, they work perfect with no cover needed.

Thanks for all the help. I went onto the happy heinys website and don't see that they make swimmers. Am I missing something?

We use Bummis Swimmis, and I was excited to see that DS's ebf poo was contained last week! It was the first time he pooped in the swim diaper, and he's peed on me outside of the pool while wearing the swimmi, so I was not sure it could contain his liquid poop. It did, though! Even while he was still in the pool, and I peeked inside the diaper, the poop stayed in. I changed him outside of the pool on a white changing pad, and still saw no orange liquid leaking from the diaper!
