Chocolate fondue?

Other than strawberries and bananas, what fruits are good for dipping? We have house guests coming this weekend and we settled on choc fondue for dessert - she brings the chocolate, I bring the fruit. I'd prefer to stick to in-season fruit if at all possible (which means no apples).

I'm not coming up with alot of in season fruit other than other berries like raspberries and blackberries. I would probably just have to wonder around the produce section waiting for inspiration to strike.
But what about graham crackers, pound cake, pretzels, cookies, marshmallows...

I like cherries

Definitely cherries!

I had a friend who always served mango and papaya slices with chocolate fondue. A little different, but very yum.

Cherries? With the pits still in? Does that not get messy? I had thought about that, but figured it'd be messy, but if you've done it, I'm willing.

And mango/papaya is a great idea, I'll have to see what's available.

How about pineapple?

Any fruit will work, really - peaches, apricots, all the berries.

Also, graham crackers, marshmallows, animal crackers, pound or angel food cake, pretzels ...

I've done the cherries and when it's just us, we dip, chew and spit . My kids think it's too fun that way, but once before I tried to neatly cut them in half then lay face down on paper towel to kind of get rid of extra dripping then stab them with the fondue fork from the inside half, but that was a lot of work and they go pretty fast. I despise to do it, but I've made homemade marshmallows rolled in toasted coconut, and when we did the cherries we like to put a half cherrie, then a little piece of marshmallow then dip it.

Oh i also think blueberries are good

you could use frozen cherries with the pits already removed, that would be a yummy texture thing! what's your fondue recipe? just melted choc or are you adding anything to it?

I'm not actually making the fondue. I'm just bringing the dippers. We kind of split the dinner responsibilities - they're bringing main dish and choc fondue, and I supply the rest.

I think any in season fruit at all would be yummy. I have no Idea if they are in season but mandarins would be yummy.
