Oh, certainly! The winter is tough on our family (Christmas, two of my siblings birthdays, MIL and SIL birthdays, niece and nephew birthdays, and DH and DS.. All within 6 weeks. And having to travel 300 miles to see my parents/siblings.. I don't drive, and public transport is irritatingly expensive) so I'm getting a headstart this year.

I've been hunting through the forums here, seeking inspiration. It's actually getting me into the christmas spirit already, bang in the middle of summer!

I am! Finished my sister's christmas or bday (in Dec also) gift. Working on my mom's. I'm not knitting for everyone - handmade only to those who I know appreciate it. But the more I get done now, the less I have to do later. Or. . . the more I get done now, the more handmade gifts someone I love gets!

I was just thinking that there's less than six months left until Christmas. Looking for some inspiration - I've never been very crafty, but I feel pulled to it now for some reason.

I have been thinking of this too. Going to make the kids some clothes... not a clue what else at this point.

I'm always thinking about Christmas.I think I started in August last year.So far I've started working on one present and now I'm going to get my actual list going so I can figure out what I need to do.I think I'm going to turn tea cups into candles for a bunch of the ladies in my family. That won't be too time consuming(as soon as I find a bunch of pretty tea cups) so that's good. But now I need to come up with ideas for everyone else.I try to make everything.

Anyway, here is some of last years gift giving loot.

How do you make the tea cup candles? Off to google...

The stuff you made last year is so cute! Thanks for the ideas.

I'm knitting my fil socks(his mother always knit him socks when she was alive) when I asked him what size shoe he was he lit up knowing I was attempting socks...luckily dh is an amazing knitter that can help me with that project

I'm thinking of this blanket for dh

he loves crazy colored patterns. I'm going to make it with all the yarn my grandma gave me which is a TON!!!

Then with leftover yarn I'm thinking this scarf/extra flowers for wrapping gifts-

Then this doll for dd-

I'm also finishing a jean patchwork quilt for my father that I've been working on for years! All that's left is the binding! Thank goodness, I never want to see that quilt AGAIN!

I've started crocheting flowers just to try and it's a nice thing to take around with me so that'll be an on the go project.

Great ideas! The socks are particularly sweet!I wish I could do something with yarn.I tried teaching myself to knit but I didn't get too far.Maybe I'll give it a try again sometime.

I think I'm going to start a Christmas thread over on the main page of the crafting forum since I don't really have any tuts or "how to" to share.Plus I think more people will see it and maybe join in?What do you all think?

Great! Here it is.I hope you all come over there!I love hearing all the great ideas. You ladies have already motivated me.I have to finish some birthday gifts first but I'm ready to get going!

I've made a goal that most of my kids' Christmas gifts will be handmade. I'm in the midst of buying patterns and supplies for stuff to make. I'm also crocheting a blanket for my middle son which is my first Christmas gift. Only a few people, outside of my kids, are getting handmade gifts but still enough that I need to start now to have a hope of finishing.

So far my list includes a few hats, a small quilt, knitted food, and a quiet book.

I'm definitely thinking Christmas!

I got plans for DH for a dollhouse for the girls.

I've reading up on using a scroll saw to make toy animals and playsets and think I'm going to ask for one for my birthday in August. I'm hoping to make some for the girls for Christmas.

I also have an idea of making either a fabric or a wooden mailbox for DD1 since she's having a lot of fun playing mailperson these days.

I'll keep on following these threads for more ideas, too. :

I will join the tribe! DH and I want to do a homemade Christmas also. Our budget is also pretty tight, so I want to also do a lot of repurposing. DS's first birthday is November 16th, and I'd like to make him a Waldorf doll. For Christmas I want to make him some clothes, if I have the patience knit matching sweaters for DS and his doll, make a quiet book with Bible stories in it. I think DH is going to paint a toy chest (he's the artistic one, not me) and I'm not sure what else he's going to do. For other family members I have a few ideas:

-quilted oven mits for my dad, made of repurposed jeans, with a fire/grill theme applique
-repurposed aprons w/ "Bringin' home the bacon AND cookin' it" and a bacon and eggs applique (FiL)
-Tea cozy with wooly sheep applique (MiL, she really needs a new one her old one is MANKY)
-quilted oven mits with pig applique (my mom)
-thrift store tea cups filled with homemade bath salts (?sisters, SiLs?)
-Grocery bags made of repurposed Tshirts (?BiLs?)

Basically the only person I have no clue what to make is DH.

bumping this up for more good ideas!

I've changed my list since this thread was started.

I've scrapped the idea of wooden toys.

I've decided to make my DS a bag for his PSP. I'm envisioning a messenger style bag to fit the PSP and some games.

I'm still searching out ideas for my DH.

Oh, and I'm blogging about ideas, too.
