Laundering out flame retardent?

Is it possible to launder out flame retardent? I want to get one of those collapsable play tunnels for the kids but they are all treated : (what the point of that is I don't know!) And I can't seemed to find any that are either made of cotton or not treated. It obviously won't fit in the washer but I thought maybe I could scrub it in the tub or something.

My DH's uniforms are treated with fire-retardent chemicals. They are not supposed to be dry cleaned b/c the cleaning process will remove it. Regular washing is supposed to be fine though. I don't know if that helps or not...

Yeah the retardants can't easily be washed out.

Our tunel is nylon - maybe you can find one like that?

I was just reading about bromine in carseats.  Washing w/ detergent does not wash it out but washing w/ soap does.  The manufacturer says that if the seat cover is washed in soap, the warranty is null and void
