I fell in love with this bag when I saw a mom on here who made one so I finally bought the pattern and supplies and now I am pretty frustrated with the cording. I bought cording that was 1/4" in diameter and cut my strips and have been using my zipper foot and all that- and still can't seem to get anywhere close to the seam allowance called for. I then dug out my old old singer that has an even smaller zipper foot and tried that- that worked better- but I then broke that foot and a whole pack of needles for that machine. So now I am back to my normal machine and I still need to put the cording around the side panels ( all the trouble was only on the pockets
).
I bought this pattern to challenge myself- not to cause myself this much stress. I had hoped that it would end up being fabulous and I could make more for Christmas gifts- but at this point I just don't see that happening.
I think either smaller cording, wider strips, iron on stablizer and interfacing or something would make this so much easier than this. I need to get this bag finished and I really can't buy anymore supplies or fabric since it has cost an arm and a leg already.... Any suggestions?
But on a happy note- my fabric choices are looking beautiful- a black canvas print with pea green linging/trim
