Does anyone have any more healthful campfire treats/recipes? I love pudgy pies etc. and I'd like for my own children to enjoy the tradition but I'd rather not give in to all of that sugar.

What are pudgy pies?
We used to do banana boats - take a banana in the peel, cut through the curve so that it's open and stuff it with choc chips and nuts, wrap in foil and toss in the coals for 10 minutes or so (or you can stick it on the grill if that's still hot).
You can also take a hollowed out orange peel, fill it with cake or muffin batter, wrap it in foil and stick it in the coals.
Or for little hand-held pies, roll out pie crust, fill it with berries mixed with some instant tapioca and a bit of sugar, seal the crust, wrap in foil and stick it in the coals (this can be prepped 1-2 days ahead of time with fresh berries).

My kids have a bunch of food intolerances, so we don't do typical s'mores. We roasted marshmallows (corn-free ones) and then split a banana and spread with peanut butter, and put the toasted marshmallow in between. Or a sliced granny smith apple (minus the peanut butter). Or rice cakes with the toasted marshmallow in between. We also have a pie iron, and the ones who can do gluten, do all sorts of sandwiches in it (tomato sauce and mozarella cheese, or peanut butter and jelly, or turkey or meatballs and sauce, or lots of hot sandwich ideas).

We do chunks of peach, apple, pineapple, banana etc. on roasting sticks. For the banana I love LOVE love the idea of stuffing chocolate chips in the peel.
For peach, it needs no adornment, but a sprinkle of brown sugar or a drizzle of maple syrup is really yummy. Pineapple is yummy plain, and apple chunks are really good with some cinnamon and maple syrup.

I am definitely trying those orangey-muffins this summer!
This is one of my favorite desserts while camping: lemon apple crisp: http://koa.com/recipes/files/0682.htm
There's also this one: chocolate applesauce cake: http://www.dutchovenstuff.com/recipes_detail.php?id=25
I know Dutch ovens are heavy, but the food you can make in them is amazing! And we line ours with foil so that clean up is super easy.
