NYS Vaccine Registry

Does anyone know how to access this? I would like to see if my son is on there...

If he his, he only received 1 vaccine (HepB) at birth. And this was done without my knowledge. Would this be a problem when I file a religious exemption for school? We plan on enrolling him into a Montessori School as soon as he's out of diapers.

Would I have to finish the series because he already received one? I really do NOT want to do that.

Any advice? Thanks.

From what I understand you cannot opt out of the NYS registry as of Jan '08 so I assume your son would be in there. but you can call and find out Phone: (518) 473-4437

You can still file a religious exemption for school as religious beliefs can change at any time. If you were given a hard time, you could also make an issue that he was given the 1 shot that he has had without your knowledge and against your wishes.

After being transferred 5 times, I found out my son is not in the registry. I guess this is good news.

Well, that's what I thought. But I heard somewhere that because he had that 1 shot -regardless of exemption- we would have to finish the series.

NYC has its own seperate registry, which has been mandatory for about 4 or 5 years now.

Oh great... I didn't know about that. Well I guess I'll just call them tomorrow and find out.

Thanks for the link though.

Let us know what you find out. I'd be curious if my son is on the PA registry too. Anyone know how I can find out? Are peds in PA "required" to put patients on the registry or is it optional? Cause I was never told anything about it - he has had a few selective vaxes, ending at 7 mos. I'd love to know if he's on it, and if what he's had or not had is on there too. We should be able to access this info for our own children online or something, don't you think?

I am on hold at the moment. I was told that my son is on there but he cannot tell me what is says because he doesn't know who I am. I would have to come in with ID to get a copy of his record.

He also gave me a number to this woman. I would have to contact her regarding exemptions.

When I asked if there was any way to get my son off of this registry... he asked "Why wouldn't you want your son on the registry?" I replied, "Because I don't like the fact of big brother keeping an eye on my kid." He put me on hold, he had to ask his supervisor.

Eta - I was pulling at the strings... I know it's mandatory and state law.

Also, he did slip that the record I have is pretty much up-to-date when I mentioned that I would like to obtain a copy. Meaning the HepB vaccine is the only one they have on the registry.
