What do you do with your old/older patterns that you don't want anymore?

... you know, the ones that you know you don't want to sew.

I bought a bag of vintage patterns at the goodwill. The bag was sealed/it was a package deal.

Should I just donate the ones I don't want back to the goodwill store? They are mostly uncut so 'someone' may want them, I guess. Their envelopes have gotten a little tattered over the years. They are mostly '70s, '80s, and 90's vintage.

Any ideas?

Good question. I have donated a few. But in all honesty I've kept most of them thinking I'd use them to make gifts or something. Maybe when my dd is bigger I'll get rid of a bunch, right now I rationalize that I'll save them for when I sew for the grandkids (which I don't have). I have a pattern collecting issue though and fully admit it. I probably have over 500 (last I counted I had close to 400, but it's been awhile) patterns, and that's not including pattern books or magazines like Ottobre and Burda. I literally probably own a pattern for anything I might want to make, lol.

I like mixing pattern pieces together to make whole new outfits to call my own and know that absolutely nobody else will have such a outfit

I freecycled mine. I got plenty of responses so there must be people wanting to make vintage clothing.

I'll probably try to mix-&-match pieces w/others... I've got so many patterns already that what's a few more, right?!

I frequently am on the look out for vintage patterns. Try craigslist or freecycle.

I tend to drop them off at a charity thrift (I spread my donations around to Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul's, and Goodwill).

I buy a lot of patterns from thrift stores and also donate back what I'm not going to use.
