Our baby girl arrived last Thursday!
We'd planned a home birth, but after 3 days of labor and never dilating past a 4ish even after 15ish hours of pitocin, we ended up with a c-section.
i'm having a bit of a hard time coming to term with the section since it was the furthest thing from my mind, but my baby is sooo healthy and i actually had a great hospital experience and the dr on call was super patient anf had the lowest section rate in the hospital.
lo is a super great nurser and has regained her birth weight plus some!

Welcome Baby and my biggest hugs to you on the unexpected C-section. It's hard to deal with a birth that really is the farthest thing from what you'd expected. Do take the time to process it and come to a good place about it. Check out the supports you can get in Birth Trauma (Birth and Beyond area). I found it very helpful when coming to terms with my first labor being so NOT what I'd anticipated.

Congratulations on a healthy baby! YAY!

I'm so sorry about not getting the birth you wanted. I really think it's so important to explore and let out all the emotions that do come with that. It may take a long time, but will be so worth it. I hope you and your closest people provide you the space to process it. Be compassionate with your body and when you are able to: forgive it. Hugs!

Baby's name!

Thank you Erinz and beachcomber. It definitely has been an emotional roller coaster, and one that I was not really expecting. It helps to have support here on MDC though.
I forgot to add my baby's name: June Pattison S.
I was so used to just calling her "baby" when she was on the inside!

I also had an unexpected C-section, but in my case, her little hands were near her head and she wouldn't come on down the canal and was stuck at a -1 station. I think it helps to talk out everything, and even though it's hard, not beat up yourself about what actually happened v. what we envisioned to happen. I know there are support groups out there and it will take some time to process. I might check out ICAN or some area groups. I love her name!!
