DH has a long commute to and from work and doesn’t have the time to read parenting and discipline books. Can anybody recommend some good audio books or podcasts or something else he can listen to in his car? Thank you!

There were numerous audio resources posted several months ago in the following thread:

It's pretty comprehensive so check it out.

I would highly recommend the audiobook for Connection Parenting by Pam Leo, but I think it is currently very hard to find. It is going to become available again through www.consciouslyparenting.com so keep your eyes out for it.

I also recently came across a series of 23 podcasts by the gently discipline advocates at www.handinhandparenting.com The series is focused on new parenting issues and it looks new material is going to be added as well. If these are as good as their booklets, I would highly recommend them.

And don't forget about downloads from blogtalk radio. Here's a couple that are gentle discipline oriented:

Good luck!

It has been awhile since I posted to this thread, but I wanted to share that I just found the motherload of audio and video parenting resources at the library. Go figure. My library is part of WorldCat, a world wide network of 71,000 libraries that share materials. They have materials there that was never mass distributed but made for schools or libraries for example. I searched several authors commonly recommended in this forum and found every one I searched had something available in audio or video formats. Alfie Kohn, Lawrence Cohen, William Sears, Naomi Aldort, Elizabeth Pantley etc.

This is awesome! I can find it on WorldCat via my library's website, but how do you actually "get it"? It shows me the library that owns the material, but I don't see how I can actually get the CD or DVD.

I don't know if your library uses the same web page to order from WorldCat. It was really difficult for me to find the option to borrow from it too. Even after using it a few times I still have to look for it. There is a link that says Borrow this item from another library (Interlibrary Loan) under a section labeled Availability: Check the catalogs in your library.

If you are using Internet Explorer as your web browser you can do a search on the web page by holding down the Ctrl and F keys at the same time to bring up the search option. Then search for the word "borrow."

If you still can't find it maybe your library is using a different system to order from WorldCat. In that case contact your library.

BTW, I have used WorldCat before and wasn't charged anything. This last time I requested something only available from a Canadian library and was told there would be a small shipping charge.
