What to make with finger knitting?

A couple of weeks ago ds (5yo) decided he wanted to learn to knit, so I showed him how to finger knit. He is now officially obsessed! But honestly we now have a zillion bracelets, necklaces, mini scarves and blankets, and belts. He wants to make a sweater! What else can he make with finger knitting?

Thanks!

I used to make shoe laces. I'd just wrap packing tape around the ends.

Jump ropes, wind them up ad tack them together to make coasters, dollhouse rugs, snails, roads, use them for weaving, use them to make the ribbony part for bookmarks for gifts. I think I wrote about this in one of my books. I'll try to remember to look it up!

Thanks! He really liked the jump rope idea, though he normally does the four-finger knitting and I'd think that'd be more sensible to make with one finger? Still, he's keen on the idea! Snails he also thought was good, heh!

Any other ideas, please share!

What age can kids normally start knitting with needles?

You can make them into easy garland for decorating .... everything
Dd made our dog a scarf. I keep the odd ends of finger knitting with my wrapping paper - they make lovely bows. Dd figured out how to finger knit with four fingers, its very cool looking.

A friends daughter started knitting at 6. Not sure how typical that is since we haven't gotten there yet.

LOL, I totally KWYM! I have a basket full of these. Eventually Ds moved on. Dc use them with the playstands a lot, to run them between and drape cloths over. That's about it. I alwas wondered if you could coil them tightly and stitch them together like those rugs/pot holders that are first braided.
