Help finding info on Japanese food

Thread Starter
We recently moved to Japan and I am having a hard time finding information on the Japanese food supply - ie. what does "organic" mean in Japan, are the dairy cows grassfed, what kind of conditions are the animals (chickens, pigs, cows) in, etc. I have -heard- repeatedly they don't use the same harmful pesticides as the US, no antibiotics/hormones in the meat but I am having a hard time finding this info as FACT. It seems to fit the culture since things are more seasonal and more "connected" to the earth here but I would really like to see it somewhere.

Eating local is important to me but so is eating "pure" foods. Whenever I search I mostly get info on the US food supply. Does anyone have any good links for international info?

this is the best one I've been able to find. I am wondering if you contacted that organic store in Tokyo that delivers (Tengu or something like that), if they would be able to give you more information.

Yuuki (Organic)

有機

Mutenka (No additives)
むてんか
