Discouraged..

I know I still have 6 days but geeze am I feeling discouraged about going into labor before my ob 'insists' I get induced.

I keep thinking in the back of my head that might just be the day I oversleep instead of making it in at 7 a.m.

On the day they scheduled it I'll only be 40w 1d by the u/s, even though they originally said they didn't want me to go past 41 weeks.. I think they just don't want to be inconvenienced by a 4th of July delivery if at all possible. Maybe it's just me being paranoid & down though.

Anyway..end of /whine I guess. No contractions to speak of so far or any other signs of anything...bleh.

Don't let them induce you for holiday purposes. You are in control here, not them. And without any medical reason to induce, being one day past EDD is NOT a good reason to induce, IMO.

You can request an NST to make sure baby is doing fine in there, if you're worried about going post-dates. You don't have to consent to induction though.

Some babies cook quickly, and some cook slowly. Let your baby cook the way it needs to.

^ What she said

The doctor can "insist" all he/she wants, you still have the right to decline! Is there a specific medical reason they want to induce at only 40w1d?

good luck

Medical reason, no. Their only reason for scheduling it now is that they are over-booked & are afraid if I wait til the last minute they won't be able to get me in.

That & their policy is not to let women go past 41 weeks.

I'm really trying not to argue with them too much, I plan on just missing the appt if nothing else & feigning that I overslept. It's certainly not as if I haven't told them every visit that my insomnia is out of control & they toss 'take benadryl' at me.

I'm really interested in waiting a bit past their edd since 2 of my other 3 pgs I went over by about 4 days from the edd.

But you aren't even 41 weeks yet.

Based on your history, you probably won't even make it to 41 weeks- do they know that?

You can refuse the induction on 40w1d, and tell them you will do it if you make it to 41 weeks like they originally stated.

They know the history. The last 2 weeks every aspect of this practice has gone down the toilet imo. Anything I say or ask suddenly seems to classify me as 'resistant to care' which is fine, it's not as if they can fire me this late in the game.

I'm just not going to make it to the induction anyway 'Oops, I overslept.' Their lack of 'booking' is not my problem, I'm not a number I'm a person.

I'm also thinking of heading to the other hospital in town when it comes time to deliver(I'm waiting until last minute), they're not going to turn me away & I now know for a fact(something I just found out recently) they're a lot more friendly in regards to keeping baby with mom.

I would for sure refuse an induction at 40+1. Mine will be scheduled for 41+3 if necessary and even then I'll probably resist.
