Oh, mommas...
Last night, when DD and I made a dog-food-run to Target, I was surprised by my DD! As I opened the back door to get DD out of her car seat, I asked her if she wanted to ride on my back (in the sling). Now, I suppose I have always "asked" her this question...never thinking much about her response because it has always been an affirmative. Well, last night I was in for a surprise.
Me: Hi, baby. Are you ready to ride on momma's back?
DD: Oh no, momma. Ru-ee (Ruthie) ride in cart.
Me: So, you don't want to ride on momma's back?
DD: Cart (while shaking her head no)
Now, obviously, I have begun to wear DD less and less as she has gotten older. But, this was the first time that she actually declined my offer of a ride!
So, I did what any emotional momma would do...I shed a couple of tears in the parking lot and cried on DH's shoulder when we got home! I am happy that my little one is developing a sense of independence. But, still...
Thanks for letting me share...
