IS it slright to eat raw eggs during pregnancy?

I would love to eat some homemade icecream but it has raw eggs in it and I am pregnant. They are organic fertilized free range but commercial eggs from the store, I don't know if I should. Any advice?

Honestly, if you're willing to feed it to your children...?

I'm not sure. I haven't fed it to them yet either. We just got the icecream maker yesterday and my husband just followed a NT recipe today. I think if they were our eggs or local from a farm I may be alright with it but....they are from Feather Ridge Farms. I think that is kind of a big egg production farm.

I eat raw eggs- I put them in my smoothies. But I know the source of my eggs- I wouldn't eat commercial eggs from the grocery store raw.

I eat them raw when I know the source - but any time I'm reduced to buying storebought, they're strictly for cooked dishes.

If you don't have access to other eggs right now, I'd look for a different ice cream recipe - one that cooks the eggs (I prefer cooked egg ice creams anyway).

I eat my eggs raw during pregnancy but only because I know exactly where they came from (a good friend with well loved chickens). I personally wouldn't do commercial eggs raw.

I would only eat eggs raw if I know where they come from. If the eggs are in question, I heat them in a double boiler for ice cream.

Ditto everyone- if I know where they are from.

Or just don't put eggs in your ice cream. It'll still be yummy. You could add some arrowroot powder if you want it a little thicker.

Alton Brown believes that ice cream doesn't have eggs in it--if the recipe calls for eggs he considers that frozen custard.
