The day I went into labour, I had a funny tingling sensation, like I was going to get my period. When I went into labour, I wasn't sure if it was real or not because it was very mild. It felt like my stomach muscles squeezed for 30 seconds or so, and they were regular right off the bat (every 5 minutes). I called my doula after an hour of mild contractions because lying down was really painful, so I thought I was in labour. I laboured on my exercise ball and moved around lots to find a comfortable position. It's amazing how you'll fall into your own rhythm! I had no clue what to do, but I just let my body do its thing. You'll do great!
I had a warm shower to speed things up too, and then the contractions grew stronger. Have you read Birthing From Within and Spiritual Midwifery? Those books really helped me gain the confidence I needed to give birth.
