Homebirth with a bilobal placenta?

I'm not sure where else to ask, so I thought I would ask you ladies.

I am planning a homebirth in September, but was told today that I have a bilobal placenta. What little information I can find on it either doesn't list any potential risks or makes it sound like delivery can be life or death for me and the baby.

Do you have any links with more information about this? From what I've read its not a problem until labor begins, possibly when your water breaks, after the baby is delivered, etc. But I can't find any real indepth information (what causes it, what the real risks are, how likely those risks are to occur, whether or not its safe to continue planning a homebirth or if I'm looking at a c-section, etc). After spending all this time planning a homebirth, I think I'm more nervous at the idea of having to deliver in a hospital than anything else.

(not a birth professional)That is a risk factor for vasa previa. Vasa previa can only be ruled out with color doppler ultrasound. Vasa previa requires a c-section, usually by around 35 weeks, without which it is almost always fatal. See www.vasaprevia.org .

Other than ruling out vasa previa, I don't know what the risks are of a bi-lobed placenta. Good luck!

This seems like a thread from quite a few years ago, however, I am due with # 2 here May 2. I also have a bilobate placenta & Idaho law will not allow my midwife to proceed with home birth as planned. What exactly is the reason for it? I had planned on a home water birth & am now just completely stressed about a hospital birth, especially since they don't even have birthing tubs there apparently. In addition, I do not vaccinate & I don't want anyone formula feeding my baby... Stressed to the hilts after the news today & seeking any information I can find to help prepare me better for what may be ahead.
