cloth diapers?

I cloth diapered my youngest three children and loved it.

It has been 4 years though since I had a itty bitty. What is new in the world of cloth diapers?

Who is planning on cloth diapering? If so, what system do you use?

Over the years, I have used it all, but I think for cost and simplicity, we are going to continue to stick with covers and prefolds. If I stick with one system, my dh doesn't get confused about what goes with what.

My favorite covers used to be Wiggle Worm Bottoms - I wonder if she is still in business?

I will also be watching this thread I am planning on using mostly cloth, and I LOVE buying soft things for my baby's tush

Just a reminder -- in keeping with the DDC guidelines, it's OK to have a "poll the DDC" thread about what cloth diapers you'll be using, but specific conversations about what's new in the cloth diapering world needs to take place in the Diapering forum, found here. If that's the direction the thread goes, it will be moved on over there. Thanks, mamas!

Four and a half years ago with my youngest, I did a combination of wool and fitteds with Fuzzibunz for outings and that's probably the system I'll go with again since it worked well for us. I'm not even sure the fitteds we used the last time around are still being made, I'll have to start poking around once I'm sure this is a sticky babe.

We've CD'd since DD1 was born, I feel like we've tried one of every diaper. (I am too nervous to just go with one system) Right now we're using mostly FB's, they've been our "constant" throughout the years. I like KL's, FB's, and tiny PF's for when they're tiny.

As far as whats new in the world of diapering, have you considered NOT diapering? When I was 7 months pregnant I found a book called Natural Infant Hygiene. Changed my whole outlook on diapering. I'm PG with my second, and my 10 month old is 0 accidents 100% of the time. By the time baby is born, he will probably be taking himself to the potty and I can focus on new babies potty time

I agree, EC'ing is awesome, even just part-time. We only did it PT and VERY casually with DD, and didn't really even do that until 8ish months. But she was still PL'd LOOOONG before any of the other kids her age (actually, she stopped pooping in diapers at 11 months). We haven't done as much with DD2 but even she loves to use the potty and save me some diaper laundry.

I have dabbled in EC over the years and did not have the success that you have had.
We might try again some - especially since my kids aren't so young.

I have a cloth diaper sewing business so most of our diapers were sewn by me.

For DS (21months) we have a combo of pockets for DH and when we are out and about, and fitteds and prefolds for at home.

For the new baby I am planning to sew fitteds for at home, and AIO's for out and about. I like AIO's for little babies but not older babies. DH can handle fitteds but not prefolds.

For covers we will do mostly wool but have some back-up PUL covers for if all the wool is wet. I will sew the covers too probably

We'll used CDs.. and I'll make them! I was a maker and seller of diapers for a while (until it just wasn't as fun.. and honestly, I think my sewing skills really are great, but my shipping and attentiveness to SWIFTNESS isn't as great.. oops)... I've saved a few of my favorites from dd3, but I'll have to make sure they'll work because she's 3.5 already!

For bitty babes, I love fitteds and covers. After that.. oh heck, I love everything... flats, prefolds, prefitteds, fitteds, pockets, AIOs... PUL covers, fleece covers (well, sometimes) and wool covers... I can find benefits to everything! But I'm going to have to figure out which exact system I plan on making for this babe. I'll get a stash of nb and small fitteds/covers ... and then figure out what to do for mediums!

I have a small stash of one-size fits all AIOs, and a good sized stash of prefolds with nylon covers. This is what I use, in combination with very relaxed ECing, with my ds (and it's what I used for dd, minus the AIOs). The AIOs are starting to leak now, and I have heard that they aren't really made to be used for more than one child. The prefolds are very reliable and we'll get lots of use out of them, though.

Those of you using AIO's...do any of you use the Bumware Extreme AIO's? I have a friend who's newer to CD'ing but HIGHLY recommended them to me (I have tried several different AIO's in the last 3 years and just don't have the AIO love). So I was thinking of maybe selling a few of my current stash to get a couple to try.

I haven't read the whole thread but will later.

For 0-3 months
- Kissaluvs with newborn or small ProWrap covers.
- Prefolds with same covers
- I also buy 1 pack of Pampers Swaddlers size 1 (for the days in case i can't get all laundry done)

3-6 months-ish (depending on weight of baby but both my boys have been identical in weight)
- Prefolds with ProWrap Covers
- Bumgenius one size diaper

6 months - potty
-Prefolds with Wrap covers, bummis covers
- fuzzi bunz mediums
- bum genius one size
- mommy's touch one size

I am planning on CD.
Are you ladies going to wash at home or use a service?
There are no diapering services here!

I've always just washed mine dd1 was *very briefly* cloth diapered (just before dd2 arrived and I was testing some out), dd2 was all in cloth, just stuff I'd purchased.. and dd3 was in almost all homemade diapers

i love the bum genius or the haute pockets pocket diapers but i don't like the inserts...i just use indian prefolds as i think they are actually more absorbent and i just like them. i like not having to adjust a diaper lying in the cover which always seemed tedious as they're kicking around and trying to roll over! and in my experience all in ones's took forever to dry, especially hanging up by the fire!

That's why I never liked AIO's, either...but it's also why I'm curious about the BXAIO's, because my friend says they dry SO fast, just as fast as her FB's did.
When I sew AIO's I do flap soakers like some of the fitteds so they dry quicker. Not quite as easy to put on but they dry much faster. I know of at least one commercial brand that is like this- sposoeasy's.

I want to cloth diaper but DH quickly said 'no'. He thinks it's 'gross' and he said he won't do it. I work from home and would be able to do 80% of the changing, but 2 days a week he is going to stay at home with me so I can get more work done and he'd have to do the changings 100% those days. Ugh - such a disappointment.

I switched over to one size dipes with my last baby--he will be one in Aug...I have his small stash so once this baby out grows that the he/she will jsut move in to my HUGE one size stash
