Playstand and Rainbow playsilk question

Thread Starter
I figured I'd just group the two together. We are planning on making our girls playstands for Christmas but were unsure of what the typical dimensions are. So if you made some could you share your dimensions and also what type of wood you used? We went and looked at Lowes yesterday and the associate said to use something called glued edge project board or something like that. It was pine and 3/4"x16xhowever long and they had stain grade and paint grade. Is that the right thing to use? It seemed awfully light?

And my second question. I also want to make a few long playsilks to drape over the playstands. I want to do a rainbow one and used to have a tutorial for a rainbow one using koolaid but now I can't find it. Does anyone have a link to any tutorials to make a rainbow silk?

I haven't made playstands (yet) but I have a couple sites bookmarked that are worth looking at:

I have made a big rainbow playsilk and used this for reference I think...

I have also heard that Wilton's food coloring dyes really easily and doesn't require special dyes/chemicals/etc.

Good luck!

oops! I was lost pages back and didn't realize how old this thread it that I just bumped. Well, maybe it will help someone else now. Sorry all!
