Anyone turned crib bumpers into toddler bed pillows?

My original thought when buying my dd's bedding set was that I loved it enough to use it for her toddler bed because it wasn't too 'baby-ish.' This made perfect sense to me because the comforter would just be hanging as a decoration and the bumpers were used as a decoration until she moved to her crib after co-sleeping. We're not quite ready for a toddler bed yet, but I'd like to get this accomplished before I have my DS in October, since I likely won't have the time then. I'm not sure how I should go about washing the bumpers before converting them into pillows (decorative pillows for when the bed is actually made, not pillows for her to sleep on)... and not sure exactly what the best way to do this would be. Should I buy coordinating fabric, or rip out the seams and use the fabric that's already on both sides?

No, and I'm not a crafty-mama, so I can't offer advice, but this sounds like a great idea!

I think I'll be stealing this idea! I already planned on turning one of her sheets into a pillowcase (we have 3 in case quick changes are needed), but will have to try this out as well.

I think I will leave the original seams in place and try to figure out how to finish up the sides to make it look nice.
