I am at my wits end.I dont know what to do.Ds will be in school this year.DS pees in the toilet has from the the time he was 2 1/2.Pooping is a whole other story.

He wears a pull up.I let him ware underwear for awhile, but the clean up was a mess, and it made my washer stink.

Yesterday I changed him a total of 8 times .

I see him trying to poop, and I put him on the toilet .He will fight me,and scream.

I have asked him why he poops his pants. He told me his brain wont let him. Also said it just comes out

I have tried everything to get him to poop in the loo.His 2 year old bro poops in the toilet. You would think that would be enough, to make him want to.

I even made him not wear any bottoms. He still pooped.

He poops at home ,and in public.A little boy told him he was stinky once.

I know all poo stinks, but his has a awful stink. It has always had the same smell.its really the strangest smell.Skunk, and coffee .

His clothing smells bad, even the shirts.I have had to get fragranced laundry soap. The kid has ezema.if I use the seventh generation one,on his clothing they still stink.

Everyone says to take his toys away,or discipline him.I cant do that.I dont think that will get us anywhere.

I feel like its my fault. When he was a year old I was not home much .I was in a rebellion phase..Dont judge.I have fully changed as a mother from that time.

What do I do for him?

TIA

Have you taken him to a doctor? it may be something out of his control.

Yeah a DR will be my next step.I just wanted to see what the mothers here had to say. Before I take him in.

I talked to a nurse and she said they would put him on miralax.

definitely take him to the dr. my DS had problems when he was around 4.5. turns out they are very common in kids his age. he was constipated from "holding it" and then lost a lot of feeling/control. this is called encropsis. mild laxatives helped him a lot and he's had very few problems since them (he's now 6.5)

Google "functional encopresis." Its not that uncommon, and its not your child's fault (or yours, or anyone's). The consensus is to NOT use any type of punishment (which makes the problem worse) and to develop a positive plan which rewards any successes.

He may not be aware that he has to poop, and shame makes the denial even stronger.

http://www.aafp.org/afp/990415ap/2171.html

"Nonretentive encopresis refers to inappropriate soiling without evidence of fecal constipation and retention. This form of encopresis accounts for up to 20 percent of all cases. Characteristics include soiling accompanied by daily bowel movements that are normal in size and consistency. An organic cause for nonretentive encopresis is rarely identified. The medical assessment is usually normal, and signs of constipation are noticeably absent. A full developmental and behavioral assessment should be made to establish that the child is ready for intervention to correct encopresis and to identify any barriers to success, particularly disruptive behavior problems. Successful interventions depend on the presence of soft, comfortable bowel movements and addressing toilet refusal behavior. Daily scheduled positive toilet sits are recommended. Incentives may be used to reinforce successful defecation during these sits. A plan for management of stool withholding should be agreed on by the parents/caretakers and the family physician before intervention."

Considering the very bad smell and the fact that he's pooping 8 times in one day, it sounds to me like a medical issue....
