What drink do you have with breakfast? - Page 2

Orange juice. Or water. Or green tea with lemon and honey.
Some years ago I would start my day with a caffeine laced sweet soda, but haven't done that in years.

Juice is fructose, without the fiber. Meaning that the liver gets hit pretty heavily having to process all of that.

I drink tea, water or (rarely)orange juice.

Ds1 drinks water or (usually orange) juice. Ds2 drinks water or lemonade. Those are the only drinks besides soda(and occasional choc milk my kids will drink). We don't keep soda in the house ever so that's a no go. I don't have a problem with juice because both of my kiddos have severe feeding issues due to sensory issues and that is a way to get some different types of food into them.

Juice, occasionally, as a treat, is fine, IMO. but we pretty much exclusively drink water. We eat our nutrtion. We drink to hydrate.

One way that we mindset our children is by example. So if we want them to have milk then we use milk as well.

Homemade juice is okay. The problem with most juice is they are heavily processed, not a lot of vitamins (unless they are added in after), and are horrible on the teeth. A lot of them are artificially colored/flavored/ and laden with sugars. Also, most of them are pasteurized which removes the healthy enzymes and vitamins in the juice. I have no problem with freshly made juices (we have a juicer), but try not to give my children any store bought juice (except for with their greens or when they are sick and I need to get liquids in them).

Raw milk or water, that's all we ever drink at anytime of the day except for herbal tea (and my occasional fresh pressed apple juice diluted with water).
