would you eat this?

chicken bone broth that's been simmering since friday night but has been turned off for at least 2 out of the 3 nights (and then turned back on again)? it looks like it's got a little something floating on top; not sure if that would be normal or problematic. i'm leaning toward maybe chucking it but hate to waste good broth. i think i might go back to the 24 hour cook. btw, i added no vinegar, if that factors in. tia!

also, how long would you eat bone broth (that's been stored in the fridge)? a week after making? longer?thanks!

I would skim it and give it a good boil. It will be fine.
I only like to keep broth 4 or 5 days in the fridge. After that they can start to smell pretty nasty. After about a month, they smell so bad you have to toss the container because the stink will never, ever come out. Not that I've ever done that...

well this day just got away from me and the broth's just been hanging out so i think i better toss it.... the week old one i put in a carrot soup and made too much so i guess after leftovers for lunch tomorrow i'm probably going to just end up wasting that one too.... so sad....
going to have to get better at this!

As long as you grab it up before it begins to stink, the one in the fridge can be frozen and reused later.

I like to reduce my stock (boil water off) and then freeze in ice cube trays and/or muffin tins for easy freezer storage. Then its super easy to reconstitute with boiling water and you have as much or as little as you like. Plus the ice cube size ones are good for cooling down my kiddos food and sneaking in extra nutrition
