I read that the federal courts really did rule that state workers cannot be paid with IOUs, thank heaven.

I also went to Target today and bought all the supplies I need for the birth pretty much. I feel a lot better now! ALL I need now is some more cloth diapers, a boppy, cloth pads, and some nursing bras. And even then, I *could* get by without a boppy and with the stuff I already have. Well, maybe I would need the bras. I am down to ONE and it doesn't even fit. But if I were to go into labor in a few weeks, I would be fine. Whew! *wipes forehead*

I love gathering stuff I need. It is such a feeling of excitement. I am so happy for you. Bras yeah you can wait if need be. I have two nursing tanks from Eiley and two bras I bought. I hope they hold out until I have the baby size wise. I have expanded so much this pregnancy, LOL. About the boppy, I have had one, but almost bought one from the baby resale shop. I always use a pillow. I am currently obcessing about which purse/baby bag to buy. I have some money in paypal.

Thanks all... I'm committed to this vbac (it will be my second!) but I am trying to keep in mind that while last time I had a fantastic pro-birth team in a supportive hospital, this time round I have a "meh" team in a "meh" hospital. So I want my vbac but I know my odds aren't spectacular.

Talula- : I'm so glad you've got that worry off your chest! I was planning on going to Target today to check out their discount racks, but on the way I stopped at Old Navy (right next to each other in our mall) and learned that this store is phasing out their maternity section as of July 1st! So everything was marked down a couple times and then had a 50% off on top of that! The selection was pretty thin, but I scored TEN items for a grand total of under 20 dollars. Which is better than I'd have done at the thrift shop and much better than Target. So I'm a happy camper and should be able to make it through the next few weeks with my whole, entire, including the bottom, belly covered.

Restless Leg Syndrom stinks. I had it really badly with dd1's pregnancy, not at all with dd2, and it's just starting up again. Ugh. And you know the one medication they make for it isn't approved for use in pregnancy, even though the largest population of RLS victims is, yup, pregnant women? Poop! It drives me up the wall to finally get comfy and then have my legs just take over the show. The hypnobabies helps, but not enough...

Hang in there all!

New clothes at end of pregnancy can be so helpful getting through the last few weeks, lucky you!

A symptom of RLS can be low iron, adding iron and cal/mag supplement can help.

I've been in the cal/mag/zinc camp for a while now... it's the only thing that prevents the calf cramps! My iron levels are good too (our water is extremely mineral rich, which is icky to drink, but means I'll never be anemic). But I'm sure those two things together have been a large part of why the RLS held off so long this time.

I'm not sure though why it seems to have skipped my last pregnancy. If I could figure out the secret I bet I'd make a fortune!

I'm wondering if the weather this time round is part of the problem... it's been very cool recently but it's heating up and I'm getting a bit puffier. So perhaps the extra fluid is pushing on something or throwing off the balance of something else.

I can still see my ankle bones I wonder how much longer that will last though.

I too am having issues with RLS. That's prob my biggest pregnancy related complaint right now. My legs just ache and feel tired all day now. I plan on starting calc mag supplements as soon as I can get to the store.

Mission "clean the garage" accomplished! Now I have to do windows inside and out plus remove the screens and scrub them. That's the next big thing and then a deep house cleaning. I still don't have the fishy pool as I've been holding out to see if I can find it at a brick and mortar store. I just hate to pay 2x the price for shipping: I used to see them all the dang time before i got pregnant, grrrr!

Spring Sun, I'm so sorry.

: Yea, Talula!

Nice score on the clothes Wombat! I wonder if our Old Navy is also phasing out their maternity stuff. They never had much to begin with, but it might be worth a try. Even though I'm small (and measuring about 3cm smaller than average for where I was at 33 weeks- 35 now) My belly still is poking out from under my maternity clothes. Probably the next size larger would fix the problem. I remember when even the smalls seemed impossibly large!

Everyone take care of yourselves! I'm off to feed the farm animals and then meet with a pediatrician. If I hurry, I might even have time for a shower. I hate smelling like a goat when meeting someone for the first time. :LOL

I don't know where wombatclay lives.... but the oOld Navy closest to us that carries maternity clothes (an hour and a half away in Austin, TX) is done with their maternity section as of today. Their selection in their store on Saturday was pathetic. I'd call the individual store before heading over.

Aww thank you so much... the dress I had originally bought to wear had some zipper issues the day of so I had to wear one of my regular non maternity ones. Thank god it fit!

Oh man.. I wish I would have come in here sooner. I got so many duplicates at my shower and ended up with two boppy's. I just took the one back. Ah well... if anyone needs an organic Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe wrap let me know...

I'm so sorry. I wish I had great advice to offer.

I'm doing ok. I'm starting to think this will be a July baby. I'm having more and more contractions lately and getting more and more incapable in general. Twisting and turning is quite difficult. I'm not sleeping much or very well, so that's exhausting. I'm quite short and have proportional arms, so my reach can be frustratingly short already and the belly is really getting in the way of being able to accomplish stuff. Still, I'm generally feeling ok. I can still see my ankle bones just fine - no swelling of note even in the hot drought in Houston. My little one is definitely a mover. I can often just watch my belly move all over.

DH will be home Friday through Tuesday for a 5 day weekend : We have the home visit on Tuesday and I have a list of things we're planning to finish off in that time. From there, I'm not really expecting to do any more huge projects. I finally settled on a photographer that will do both maternity and birth pictures that I can afford to hire. We have maternity photos scheduled for July 19th. I'm having a baby shower thrown by moms in my play group on July 18th. We're cutting it pretty close with both of those as I'll be 36 weeks then and I'm starting to think I'm likely to have a 37 weeker this time.

DD and I are really struggling lately. I'm not quite sure what to do with it all. The combination of her age appropriate "misbehavior" and my pregnant appropriate physical limitations and short fuse are not working in our favor. I started a thread here in GD about it if anyone has any great advice.

Keep talking mama. It is hard for dh's to understand the up and downs we can feel in pregnancy. Tell him how you are feeling.

I'm in upstate ny... there was a sign saying that maternity was being removed from brick/mortar stores but would still be available online. I thought it was just "our" store, but maybe it's more widespread? It was a really small section to begin with, and since I was there on literally the last day the selection wasn't much. But all I wanted were tops that would be certain to cover the belly bottom for the next month. And at 2 dollars a shirt I wasn't too picky.

Spring- I'm sorry. Trying to talk about specific hot spots when both you and your partner are calm can help.

Can you see you ankle bones? Yep, not too much swelling going on here thankfully.

Forget ankle bones, can you see your feet without cheating? Ummm... no. LOL

Do you take out small children with your belly when you turn quickly? (the infamous "belly blind spot" that seems to align with my 2yo's head) All. The. Time. Poor Colleen. LOL She takes it pretty well though.

Have you used your belly as a temporary shelf or place to put something? I try, but it just doesn't work too well yet. I'm not sure if I'm carrying too low or what. It sure makes it easier to eat when you can set your plate on your belly though.

How often are you shuffling the bathroom reading material, given the never ending pit stops? None really. I usually look over my planner/calender while I'm in there and get in my head what I should be doing/how long till baby is here.

Today is my weekly chiropractor appointment and after that I get to stop by a local baby store and pick up the newborn covers I ordered last week. I'm so excited! LOL Hopefully the nursing pads I ordered will be in also.

Oh yes, and to answer the original questions:

I have not taken out DD with my belly- but I have "lost" her under it and quickly look around frantically, only to "find" her right in front of me.

My belly as a shelf has so far been useful for dark chocolate M&Ms & pretzel sticks.

And I still have ankle bones, but I have skinny ankles to begin with so it takes a lot to get them swollen looking.

DH just got laid off. I'm beyond worried about our future. His first task after getting set up for unemployment and doing an internet job search will be to call our mortgage lenders to see if we can get some kind of break. Ack!
Sunshynbaby, Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your DH. Hopefully the mortgage people will be helpful, and that your DH will get another job ASAP.

OMG I am so, so sorry. I was facing this last month and I know how terrifying it is.

Yes, I still have my ankle bones. No cankles yet. The tops of my feet are swelling though, so I'm sure it won't be long. If I stand up straight I can't see my feet!

My this thread moves quickly! I got some good news today from my chiropractor - my insurance covers massage and accupuncture! I can get a massage for 20 bucks! And my pelvis is still aligned. After this week I'm going to be going to the chiro every other week, until around 38 weeks then I'll start going more frequently again.

Lindsay - wtg getting everything ready!

sunshynbaby I'm sorry. I hope he can find work quickly. My DH is laid off too.
