Hypnobabies Course

Has anyone here ever tried the Hypnobabies course in past pregnancies, or considering trying it for this one? I'm a little bit skeptical, but I thought if my m/s got as bad this time as last time I would try their nausea CD and if that works out well maybe I'll try the course. I did have a natural home birth last time without it, but it was 36 hours of labour with a long transition due to her being posterior, and to be honest while I can't wait to give birth again, I will try anything to eliminate the pain better this time. Anyone else here thinking of giving it a try?

I LOVED hypnobabies!

With DS1 I did nothing to prepare and had a very long 34 hour stuck at 6-7cm for 24 hours...posterior labor.

With DS2 I took a Hypnobirthing class, but felt it relied to much on a partner and DH gets too whoozy to be 100% relied on (but he did great!). So then I did the Hypnobabies home study, starting at maybe 27 weeks? And I just put the CDs on my ipod and listened to them at night before bed then while sleeping. I had the most wonderful labor and birth. I was nice and calm and labored at home until 8cm and felt I really needed to be at the hospital. I didn't push, I just breathed the baby out. Oh plus in between each surge I was able to joke around and laugh and smile, then once a surge hit, when into the zone to get through it. Not once did I clench my fist of feet or jaw. My midwife was amazed at how well hypnobabies helped me relax.

Can't say enough good about it!!! I plan on starting the pregnancy affirmations soon. I am absolutely using Hypnobabies again!

I'm really considering it. I also have Marie Mongan's Hypnobirthing Book that comes with a CD with affirmations and scripts. This is my first pregnancy but while I was in doula training I took a hypnobirthing course, and I really liked the CD.

Has anyone done the other one and can you compare them?

This sounds a lot like my labour with Meredith! Had I been at the hospital instead of at home I would have had a c-section for sure. (Our hospital has a 40%+ c-section rate.) I thought I actually did prepare myself for it, but definitely not enough.

I think I'm definitely going to try it. I have read very little negative about it and almost all positive.

Hi! Not pregnant, not trying right now, but did a search on Hypnobabies and saw this.
I did Hypnobabies with my last baby. My first was a hospital birth, and I got an epidural at 4cm. My second was a homebirth that lasted a whole 5.5 hrs. I listened to the CDs starting at 27 weeks or so (I think) and just listened to them as I went to sleep at night, because no matter when I did them, I ended up "asleep". So I just did it at bedtime, and it worked GREAT!
My midwife was skeptical when she came that I was even in labor. I was 5-6cm then. Half an hour later, I was 10cm, and if she hadn't checked me earlier, I would've thought I was at 4cm again! It really worked great for me. I can't say enough about it.
I'm having a 3rd eventually and will probably start it at the very beginning. Some people don't like to do it that long, but for me it was a great way to fall asleep, and I noticed I was very relaxed during my whole pregnancy, even with a toddler at home.
Congrats on the pregnancy!

I have done both

I have done both Hypnobirthing and Hypnobabies.

For me, I found Hypnobabies to really TEACH hypnosis and various tools for you during your labor. I found Hypnobirthing to talk a lot about hypnosis, but didnt give me the tools to actually learn how to do it.

I really found Hynobabies taught self hypnosis and hypnobirthing was more just talking about it and saying that you should do it.

I will re-read my hypnobirthing book this time. Maybe it will mean more now that I know how to do the self-hypnosis.

I am starting my hypnobabies soon. I might even listen to affirmations tonight. Like that previous post said I also fell asleep every night listening, and picked up the techniques just fine. I really had a great birthing experience with it and have no anxieties/worries at all about this birth.

I'm glad to read this because I'm definitely planning on trying hypnobabies. I took a Bradley class before my first, and while it gave me a lot of information, it didn't really give me any pain management techniques.

I am planning to do Hypnobabies with this birth. I learned about it very late in my last pregnancy and wish that I had learned sooner. It would have really helped me (I think.)

Yeah, I think I am going to try this too this time. I looked into Hypnobirthing with DS, and didn't like the class leader, she really turned me off to it. From what I hear Hypnobabies is much more effective.

I'm really glad this was posted! I love hearing all the good things about hypnobabies. I think I might do this!
