When is your start date this year? - Page 2

September 8, but we are doing stuff during the summer too.

We always start on September 1st. It doesn't matter what day of the week it falls on.

(I think Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry starts on September 1 too IIRC)

I have our start date as 8/12 * the day after my daughter turns 6* and end date as 5/28. I may change it though not sure yet. This will be our first year homeschooling and she will be in 1st grade. We did public school for K.

That's my DD's b-day, too! We are doing 1st after a year of public K as well.

Our charter program's official start date was today. I would have otherwise probably waited until the end of August.

I wanted a couple days to "practice" before the charter started, so we had our first day Monday. I believe the charter program ends May 31st. I'm leaning toward going year round, so that's fine with me.

For Dylan, it's Aug 17th. That's when we pick up his books from the charter school. When the girls homeschooled, it was in Sept, the Tuesday after Labor Day.

The year that Angela was born (Sept. 11th), we didn't start until the end of Oct/beginning of Nov. That year, we did 1st and preschool.

Friday 6/26

It's a weird start date, I know. DDs last day of Pre-K was Thursday 6/25, and she skipped the whole way home singing "Homeschool tomorrow" so I figured since I had everything together already, we might as well start while she was excited to.

Even though school was a total buzzkill for me, I do have a nostalgic sense of 'school never started until the Tuesday after Labor Day' every time I hear of children returning to school in August.

Since I get to decide when our school starts, that was an easy choice for me.

As we are transitioning to being a waldorf homeschooling family, it seemed right and appropriate to take the summer off to just *be* (and for mama to do lots of reading and planning in preparation for this change.)
Wow-this is us exactly!

We've never started school before Labor Day.

We're starting July 12, dd's 5th birthday. The week after, we're going to do unit studies on the American Revolution, Lighthouses and Wild Horses, aka road trip up the eastern seaboard. We'll come back just in time for Weather and Caribbean Geography.

We'll start after labor day too.

That's when sunday school, gymnastics, and whatever other activities we have will start up again. Just seems natural for us to start when everything and everyone else is gearing up for back to school.

We're starting Kindergarten this september. I'm thinking we may have an open house labor day weekend with family and a couple friends to show off our "classroom". (assuming it's done!)

We are starting when the local public school starts.

We started on June 22nd kinda. lol We're picking up subjects now to slowly ease into a full courseload since we're hoping to have a baby in the spring (maybe April?) We'll be going year round once we get into the swing of things fully, we're coming from my oldest being in public last school year for K, I'm now teaching 1st grade and K while a 3yo and almost 2yo cause trouble.

We plan to go year round but at a very relaxed pace (throughout the year). I "officially" promoted Liam to the next grade last week, though.

We school year round

Otherwise, for paper work and "grade levels" our start date is Oct 1. That is the day our paper work is due to the school district.
