Graysen Rose's Birth Story

Thread Starter
I went in for my 38 week appointment on June 18 and I talked to my midwife about my insurance situation (no maternity coverage after June 30). Normally I would not want to be induced, but we just cannot afford the bill right now and we only found out about this when I was already 7 months pregnant. Anyways she decided to set up an induction for June 26 when I would be 39 weeks, 1 day.
I went in the morning of the 26th at 6am and they checked me and I was 2cm dilated and about 50% effaced. They hooked up an IV and started Pitocin. My midwife showed up at 9am and broke my water and by that point I was 3cm and 75% effaced. She said she could stretch me to a 4 though. So I continued to walk around and bounce on the birthing ball. I also labored in the jacuzzi for a little while to take some pressure off my back. At 2pm, I got out of the tub and was checked again and I was 5-6cm and 75% effaced so Dh and I started walking again. At 3:30pm the midwife said I looked way to comfortable for someone that was 6cm so she wanted to check me again. Apparently my waters had regenerated so she broke them again and boy did that do the trick. The contractions almost immediately got stronger and she noticed that the baby was looking out my right side so we were trying to get her to turn. Around 4:30pm I got back in the jacuzzi to help ease the pain again and the contractions kept getting more intense. I was starting to also feel a lot of pressure so they checked me again at 5pm and I was 8cm. At this point the midwife told me to just let my body do what it wanted but she told me not to push just yet. About 3 contractions later the pressure was almost unbearable and I started to feel a burning sensation. She had me quickly get out of the tub (Nebraska state laws do not allow me to have a hospital waterbirth . I lay down on the bed on my right side and she said the baby was right there. I pushed about 4-5 times and then there she was. She was born at 5:33pm. They immediately put her on my chest and I was so in love. Once her cord stopped pulsing they clamped it and let Dh cut it. Then they took her over to the nurse to get cleaned up and weighed. She was 6lbs 6oz and 20 inches long. She has a full head of dark hair and looked a lot like her brother when he was first born and she was born on her daddy's birthday so he got the greatest present ever.

Here are a couple of pictures.
