Bellydancing mamas?

I am a dancer, I have been dancing different styles for years and I am in love with the art form. I have never really kept up with the dancing during my other 2 pregnancies though. I DID dance a little while in labor with DD, mostly hip circles though, they helped. I fully intend to keep it up through this one.

Is anyone else dancing?

I feel that I should hold back on the sharp moves and shimmies, but I really love the slow and snaky moves, and the circles and figure 8s. I bellydancing.

I also have a closetful of costumes that I won't be ablt to fit in. I'll have to figure out something to perform in once I am really showing, I reaallyy want to perform in public while really pregnant.

Anyone taking lessons, or anyone dancing professionally?

Oh, I also want to add that my dear friend, a fellow dancer has invited a circle of 4 women (dancers) to dance with her during her labor. She wants us to adorn ourselves, and make it sacred. I am going to bring my veil because she loves watching the veil dancing. I am so touched that I was invited She really is a dear friend and she is due in about a week, so I am on call.

I want that. I want to be at home with a circle of women supporting me through dance (though when you are actually in labor, you never know how you are going to feel)

I am so stalking your DDC, hoping to get a BFP and end up here... I LOVE bellydancing! I'm not a dancer, by any means, but I love it anyway...

Not a bellydancer, but I wish I was! Even just to have the passion for it all that you do.. I can FEEL the energy through your post!!

Count me in! I really want to be up to a performing standard someday. Don't know if I'll ever get there, but the practice is so fun and worth it! I love dancing, all kinds of dancing, but there's something so womanly about bellydancing. I just love it. I'm not cutting back on any sharp moves or shimmies until second trimester - I danced with DS1 all the way up to the eighth month and only relaxed my moves around month six.

I'll probably take classes off and on, my schedule gets crazy. My teacher is pregnant too and danced all through her last pregnancy. I was wearing yDD for a while for classes too.

I certainly do not call myself a belly dancer yet, I am still working on remembering where my hips are after over two years of stubbornly wearing Spanx after the birth of my son. LOL.

But, for the past couple of months I have been attending a once a week beginners class, and I LOVE it! I plan to keep going through this pregnancy. I can't shimmy (yet) so I doubt there is any harm in going.
