Since last Thursday I have been having contractions start every couple hours, just as they seem to be getting somewhere, they drop off again. Our first was induced (only had this go on one day before induction), our second I woke up with bloody show and contractions started and never stopped until he was born about 12 hours later. Nothing with this one though. I went ahead and scheduled another visit with my midwife for Friday, I thought our baby would be here for sure by now. We are planning for a home birth. I was so sure it was time on Monday night that I got up in the middle of the night and got our bed already, oh well.

I hear ya girl!!! I have been having contractions off/on for several weeks now. Again yesterday I contracted from about 10:00 am til bedtime (10:30 pm). But then of course, they are gone this morning. I have also been having increased (rectal?) pressure lately. But NO BABY! I never had any of this with my other two---no contractions til I was in real labor. So I am wondering how I will know when it is the real thing--and hoping by the time I figure it out that I am not too late to get to the hospital!

Hear, hear :P DD was induced, so I don't know what it's like to "go into labor" ~ with her they started the cervidil and BAM my water broke and she was born 4 hours later. This time I keep having contractions start up (and not even painful ones...slightly uncomfortable...) and then stop. I never had early labor with her ~ went straight to 4cm and then almost just as fast to 7cm, so my contractions were never this 7-10 minutes apart (or even 4 minutes apart) that I'm having now. And they HURT before.
I've also been having some intestinal discomfort (fun times), lost a couple pounds (that's a sign, right?), was nesting like crazy...now I just need the baby to go with all of this!

I had some wicked ones last night that went on for about 2 hours. I woke up in the middle of a contraction around 12 that I had to concentrate to get through. I learned my lesson with dd2 though and forced myself to lay back down and they did end up going away. With dd2, I made the mistake of getting up and timing them right away. They always started up in the middle of the night, last a few hours and disapear. After a few days I was barely functioning. THis morning they are still here, but so sporadic. What's worse is that my doula isn't coming back from vaca until tomorrow night an my mw was/is at a birth last night.

yeah, same story here. i am reluctant to call our midwife though because she lives far away, but my labors are really really fast so i get anxious wondering if this is really it or not. so far, it hasnt been. previously, with my other kids, there was no false labor. i guess its true...each one is different!
