in the hospital

Hey ladies,

I am looking for some prayers...

I was admitted the hospital yesterday after spending the day in the ER. In July of 03, I almost died of MRSA. Thankfully, after months of treatment and surgery, I was ok. Starting Monday afternoon until yesterday afternoon, I had a mass form on my jaw. Lab tests are pending right now, but I would bet money, this is MRSA as well.

I feel like crap. My husband is in CA with the kids visiting family, so I am here without him. He wants to come home, but there isn't anything he can do here, so I am encouraging him to stay.

The doctor told me I am his first priority and the baby comes second. I know that is logical, but I can't fathom the thought of taking meds that would hurt my baby. This baby is so wanted!

I will be in here until at least tomorrow when the prelim labs come back and then I may come home with a PICC line (permanent IV) and meds.

I am in a lot of pain. The doctor offered vicodin, but I refused. I did break down and take tylenol last night and might have to this morning. It is something else.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

your baby will be fine. Get yourself better. Narcotics and antibiotics are perfectly safe in pregnancy. I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the well wishes.
Actually though, the antibiotics that they used last time for me are contraindicated in pregnancy.

Totally possible, but I'm sure they will be cautious with a baby on board! Thinking of you.

both of you will be in my thoughts and prayers. while I was at the hospital after giving birth to dd they offered percocet while I was nursing and said it was safe. so check some of the meds will be ok.

Hugs and thoughts for you mama.

You are a midwife, right? Are you pretty familiar with what meds are and aren't safe? Ca you negotiate some with what they use to treat you?

I am so very sorry you are having to go through all of this right now. I am sure it's super scary. I am also sure your docs will do everything they can to take care of you and your baby. I will pray for all of you!

I am sure you are doing everything you can to keep you and your baby safe and healthy. I'm sure you are very well informed and are making conscious choices when you can.

I know you don't want to do anything to harm the baby, but please don't do anything to damage your health or risk your life! You have other kids who need you too! Hope you feel better soon.

Praying for you and your little bean! DH had MRSA last year (he's an MD and caught it at the hospital he works at). It was a long long LONG battle to get rid of it, so I can empathize.
