Anyone thin and not gained much during pregnancy?

I'm hoping to be reassured by finding other thin mamas who didn't gain much but still had decent sized babies. I'm underweight and at 31 weeks had only gained 13 lbs. I'm really concerned about the size of my baby, but I eat as much as I can.

Anyone have any positive stories to share?

I don't consider myself too incredibly thin, but pretty average/small boned. As of 32 wks I've only gained 14 lbs. I think the comments from outside sources about how much THEY gained and am I SURE I'm eating enough have contributed to some anxiety on the subject. I just don't gain more than approx 15-20 lbs w/ pregnancy. I don't know why. I love to eat, and do it whenever I want! My other two pregnancies I gained almost 20 and approx 15 lbs, and those babies were 6'11 and born at 37 weeks......and 7'4 born at 41 weeks......

Not sure if that helps at all....but it's something that's on my mind as well. Are you measuring small? I've been anywhere from 3-5 cm behind in FHM the times we've measured and this is a regular thing for me......

I am 19 weeks and I have lost about 10#. This is normal for all of my pregnancies. I am sure my mw will tell me I need to eat more, but honestly, I eat as much as I want whenever I want so I don't know what else I could do. I will feel better tomorrow after my u/s just to see if the babe is the right size. She has never measured my fundal height yet...maybe my next appt.

For whatever reason I don't really gain in pregnancy, particularly in the third trimester, I had a c-section this time and the doctor even commented as she cut in how little fat there was! 1 of my 3 babies did happen to be IUGR, but that's much more determined by how the placenta implants and develops early on that what you eat in the 3rd trimester. My other babies were verging on the large side 75th centile for their gestations. Unfortunately the lack of weight gain in pregnancy seems to mean that I'm ravenous during the first few weeks of breastfeeding and I put on weight in the first 6 weeks or so after pregnancy.

FHM are only accurate to +/- 2 cm, so at this point I wouldn't worry too much about baby's growth. If you're eating when hungry, concentrating on protein and taking a good prenatal vitamin you should be fine. If you want to try to gain a little more you could try a protein shake right before bed.

I'm 5'9, 120-130 lbs when not pregnant and I only ever gain between 15 and 20 lbs. I measured 1-3 cm behind during the last halves of both my previous pregnancies and my babies were 9lbs 4 oz and 9 lbs 14 oz.

I only gained 19lbs with DD1. I was 5'5 and 110 when I got pg with her, I usually range between 100-110. Anyway, she was born at 38 weeks weighing 6lbs 13ozs.

This is all so reassuring! I really appreciate it. I'm 6'1" and started at 125, so yes, I'm definitely underweight. But the weight I've gained is all belly/boobs, so I'm guessing the baby's growing just fine.

I just need the reassurance every once in a while. Thanks!

My pre-pregnancy weight was 130lbs and I am 5'11". During my first pregnancy I had a really hard time gaining weight. I lost a lot of weight initially and had to go on Zofran at 15 weeks so I could keep food down. None of the usual tricks worked. I tried them all. Mt total weight gain at 37 weeks was 15lbs. Dd1 was born at 38+4 at 8lbs, 2oz. Even the OB was surprised when such a big baby came out of me.
