Hey guys...my sis and I were throwing some names around last night just for fun. I am really not set on one yet and my list will probably change as time goes on but, it is just so much fun to do. I thought I would share some of the names I came up with and if anyone else would like to join me...feel free!! I don't really mind sharing b/c I know I am not too very close to any of you location wise so it wouldn't matter to me if someone used one of the names I picked!! So...have fun girls!! Even if you just want to throw some names around that you are not planning on using just to join in ...that's great too!!

Girls

My fav right now...Eleanor, Elie for short
Adison, Adie for short
Olive

Boys

Ashton, Ash for short (name my son picked)
Landon
Brighton (sp???) Bright for short
Linchon, Linc for short (also a name my son picked)

I LOVE the name Brighton, skeeter! It was on my list until DH vetoed it. I'm a big, big fan of Eleanor, too.

We don't tell anyone names until the baby is born (both for the surprise factor and because we've always been more than open to changing it if they're born and the name doesn't fit them at all), but these are the ones DH has nixed that I love:

Girls
Thomasina
Gracelin
Rosalie
Cera
Katharina
Camille

Boys
Brighton
Xavier
Omar
Israel

2sweetgrrls yeh, I don't know if my DH would go for Brighton either!! These are just names I have come up with. We had a little list from a long time ago but, I looked at it recently and didn't like a lot of the names I had picked then...lol!! I love the name Brighton though!!

Exciting! I'm obsessing over names, but DH thinks it's too early and I won't share with anyone IRL.

For girls, my favorite right now is Lilah or Lyla. Alicia or Joanna (Johanna?) is a possibility too. For boys, I'm struggling: I like Joshua or Jonathan, but they're both more common than I'd like.

I know a little girl names Brighten- they call her Bright as a nickname- very cute.

I know a little girl named Sibella- they call her Sibby as a nickname. I'd never heard it before!

2sweet-Xavier is on my list, too, but DH doesn't like it either.

Girls:
Ella
Zoe

Boys:
Levi
Xavier

I want to talk baby names SO bad but DH doesn't want to until we find out what it is. The other night I literally spouted off 100 names and he didn't like ANY of them. I always thought those women who said 'I'm carrying this baby for 9 months so I'm naming it' were selfish but now I totally want to pull that card!

I LOVE the name Lane - for a boy or a girl. It's probably my favorite.

I also like...

Girl:
Penelope
Harper
Fiona

Boy:
Ezra
Miles

I'm thinking I'll just start calling my non-existent bump 'Lane' and maybe DH will just give in.

Michelle -- I love the name Eleanor! I've always loved it! It's on our list (by 'our' list, I mean 'my' list... dh will get input also, but if I completely feel that this baby's name is meant to be something.. well... it WILL BE!)

Girls:
Hazel Jane
Eleanor
Beatrice

Boys:
William
Joseph
Benedict
Clement

For a boy, the middle name will be Michael. For a girl... ah, even more possibilities!

I'm always thinking of names It's a fun hobby of mine! I typically think that a baby names his/herself. Either a name works or it doesn't. Sometimes feeling out the name can be done before the baby is born.. but sometimes, the baby has to be around for a while to really get a feeling of a personality and what would be suitable! DD1 (Madeline Marie) was named before she was born... well, we didn't know if she was a boy or a girl, but the girls name was picked out. With dd2 (Katherine Clare), she was not named until after she was born. The middle name of "Clare" was always in place, but I didn't know whether Katherine or Mary would be more suitable. The moment she was born, I knew she was NOT Mary and was completely Katherine! ... With dd3 (Lucy Margaret), I had various favorite names along the way, but just a week or so before she was born, the suggestion of Lucy came up (mostly because the Feast of St. Lucy is on Dec. 13th... dd3s birthday is Dec. 24th) and then we went and saw Chronicles of Narnia.... and "Lucy" was set

We also don't tell anyone names until the baby is born. We also don't choose for sure until the baby is born.

Our Current daughters name is Valley Eden W

For girls we're thinking:

Bria
Haven (veto'd by dh)
Aria (veto'd by dh)
Tempest (VbD)
Torrent (VbD)
Laney

Boys:
Jude
Emmett
Lane

I reaaaally want Thyra for a girl. It is a traditional Danish name, my mother and great-g'mas name. But DH is opposed. I honestly think the only reason he is opposed is that I won't name a girl Sandy after his mom. Well, #1 his mom is a witch, and #2 Sandy is an awful name.

For a boy we will probably do James or Ivan. I prefer James, DH prefers Ivan.

We are finding out the gender this time, but probably won't decide on a name until after the birth. And honestly I will do my best to veto DH with the "I just had a baby card". His taste in names is awful.

His girl name suggestions:
Jennifer
Kelly
Amanda
Sandy

Hello 80's. Honey you are having kids about 30 years too late for those names.

We didn't name Meredith until after she was born, though we had a shortlist. Here are what are on our list as of right now(this is bound to change a lot between now and next March though, none of them feel quite right yet):

Girls (it's just a coincidence most of these end in -a):
Kira/Kiera
Fiona
Alexandra
Julia
I like Niamh or Siobhan for a middle name.

Boys:
Alasdair
Henry
Liam
Alexander
Calum
Seamus
We're thinking James or one of the above for a middle name. James and Henry are both family names.

Wow!! Lots of responses!! I love seeing the differences in every ones tastes. I talked to Dh a little today about names...he doesn't really like Eleanor! He says it sounds old : My DS doesn't like it either but, I told them they can help decide with input and such but, if I have a strong feeling that a certain name is what I want, my vote is above every one elses!! I am the one carrying him or her around and I will know what he or she should be named more than anyone else. I mean i am sure my mind will change it already has on one of the names i listed. The one DH likes the most for a girl...Adison. I am starting to think it is too trendy and that puts me off a little....we will see..

SuzyLee, I have to agree with what you have said about the names your DH likes...80's, kind of plain.

AmandaMama, I love the names your two girls already have...both beautiful! Olive Jean sounds super cute! I probably won't use Olive either just b/c I'm sure if DH thinks Eleanor sounds old, he will think Olive does too.

sarahr oooh!!! thanks for the web site!! This is so fun!!

Danielle I like pretty much all of the names you listed...all super cute!

judybean I think we have similar taste b/c I love all three of the names you listed for girls!!

My plan is to watch every where for names!! I would like to find something not used too often but, not too weird!

I tend to like older names. I think they've obviously withstood the test of time. And there's something incredibly elegant about them, IMO I like names that aren't *incredibly* popular (I do love the name Emma, but.. I just know way too many of them in this small town) but not too "out there" ... don't get me wrong, I LOVE when other people use them.. just not quite my taste I guess.

Oh, and Hazel Jane is the *perfect* girls name, imo. My maternal grandparents' last name (hah.. so I guess my mom's maiden name), when pronounced in the full German, is near "Hazel" ... and I completely adore, adore, ADORE my grandparents! They're seriously the CUTEST and MOST FUN grandparents EVER! My girls are always going over with my mom to visit them for lunch (they live just 90 miles away!)! My grandma loves listening to the U of Wyo games and is always yelling and screaming for them! So a name that would keep the family heritage going is just beautiful to me... and then Jane is a throwback to dh's grandmother, Mary Jane, who passed away seven years ago but was such a wonderful, beautiful woman. I'm so glad I got to know her before she passed.

So while I toy with other names... there's something so nostalgic about Hazel Jane... that I really, really hope this is a girl!!

Don't know how it happened, but I think DH and I came up with a boy and girl name we both like. No middle names yet, but we've decided on Madeline and Alexander. We have a one-syllable last name, so I like the longer first-names.

Any middle name recommendations?
Too funny, Amanda! Yeah, Zoe and Ella will always be my fave girl names. Unfortunately, DH has cousins by the same name (didn't know that when I picked them). So, I can't have those names. boo-hoo!

Michelle, your names list is freaking me out! Our names are already chosen: Eleanor Gayle or Lincoln (Linc) Eugene. What are the odds??
