amanda- : sounds like it to me!

I had my membranes stripped and took blue/black cohosh tincture yesterday.. had contrax all night, but nothing that told me I needed to get into the BC right away.

It turned out to be a blessing in disguise, though, because there was a fire in the building of the BC (no one was there).. so I'm glad we weren't there and having to evacuate in the middle of labor.

I'm going back to see my mw today to start all over. :

Karla and Amanda, I'm so happy for you both!!

Lizzy, are you dialated at all? My mw said that the membrane stripping works really well if you're already like 4cm but if you're only 1, then it's likely to not do much. I'm just curious about your situation b/c I'm thinking of having her try it next Wed...... I really don't want it to just give me annoying ctx for a day and then nothing. But we'll see.....

I'm still here too... 40+5... our MW's are pretty chill about it. They've said nothing about a cutoff date and we're likely going to birth at home if we can.
They gave me an induction cocktail that I took on my due date (apricot juice, 2 tbspns castor oil and 5 drops of lemon verbena oil they gave me). It upset my stomache and cleared my intestines (weighed 4 lbs. less the next morning). I did have regular contractions for a couple hours but nothing of any intensity.
My first was born after a cervadil (prostaglandin) induction and it was pretty intense (babe was born hours later) so I'm hoping to avoid it (our water had broken and labour didn't start, so we didn't have a tonne of options).

I'm curious about the membrane sweeping, it's our option on Monday.. anyone got a grasp on how successful this is likely to be?

I may be doing this Monday too. I just read from Ina May that it's got about a 50% success rate. But it didn't put any parameters on that. 50% overall, or just in "past due" moms? In any moms dilated enough to do it, or only those with advanced dilation? I dunno.
