Y'know, two of my sisters (twins - 17 y/o) work there, too. One is a lifeguard and the other works in the food court/cafe. I wonder if there is any written "policy"...? I'll see if they can check it out.

I'm amazed at this guy's audacity. He had no clue what he was getting himself into, eh? I don't have any nurslings, either, but I'd go to support the cause!

Interesting about H2Oasis. I'll be interested in hearing what your sisters tell you. I'll go if a bunch of you all decide to go as well for a nurse in sort of deal or whatnot.

Thanks for the info on the garlic. I'm going to order some more than likely and would love love love to be able to have my very own garlic next year from the garden.

I'm all for a nurse in, but sadly no longer nursing...time flies...

So, will I really use all those extra seats in a minivan? I'm falling in love with subarus....

Oh, I'm on fb too, Mistee St. Clair

Hi All! Can I join? DH is interviewing for positions in Anchorage and we hope to be official Alaskan's soon. We've been trying to move for a few months now and it looks like it might happen by/during the fall :

RE: H2Oasis - I checked with one of my sisters this AM. She said this all started because the mother was "completely exposing herself and wouldn't cover up." Apparently there is no written policy, but they ask for discretion since it is a "family establishment."

She's just repeating the line she was fed, of course - and said they (the employees) are not asked/directed to tell nursing mothers to go anywhere, ie. upstairs, away from "the deck" or whatnot.

I think it's more like $25 but I believe they are planning a Nurse-Out (lol) on the sidewalk outside the establishment.

It would be next week, on Saturday if nothing comes about the calls and letters. Check out that facebook link for more details.

He's a civil engineer. He's mostly looking at jobs with Park Services, but some other small companies as well so if this doesn't come through, there are others in the works.

Oh, his job is in high demand here!
Have you checked with the native corporations around Alaska?

Yep she was fed a line. The mom actually was covered up. This is just Dennis, and his anti breastfeeding position. If a patron has a problem with a mom nursing then the proper response is to work with THAT patron, the one with the problem, not the nursing mother.

And the nurse in will be held out on the side walk yes. No one would have to pay to go in. Even if you are not nursing, just showing up will show your support.

She also posted that she was chatting with a neighbor while she was nursing and the neighbor later said she had no idea that she was even nursing.

Welcome! Fall is a gorgeous time to be here.

GAH!!!! Just...GAH!!!! Here I thought H2Oasis would be a great place to take my kids but they have no rights since they're only 5 and 1. I don't take my kids places where they don't have rights, thankyouverymuch. And it's not even about the nursing so much as his total lack of respect for anything when he was approached!
