Has anyone ever made those outdoor triangle shades?

Thread Starter
I'm wanting some extra shade, and I'd like to put up those outdoor triangle shades, but they are pricey, particularly in the size I would like. I'd like to have a couple of small ones and a fairly large one, but without spending 300+.

Anyone made these? What sort of fabric did you use? Any suggestions or thoughts?

Thanks, Lori

I don't know, but I'm hoping somone will. We could totally use one of these at home.

I've never made one, but it wouldn't be that hard I don't think. Using whatever fabric you wish...or similar to what they use, in whatever size you want. Reinforce the edges with folding bias tape, of sturdy fabric (home made biased tape using the same fabric or sturdier (canvas??), sew on rings to the corners and then sew on nylon straps with rings on the other side to hook the sails to whatever you have to do so with.

If you are looking to do a "sample" one, maybe go to the gardern store and get "shade cloth" and hooks, then off to the fabric store and get some twill tape, rings, and nylon straps. Makes sure you are using a good quality heavy duty polyester thread to sew with.
