What book would you like to see made in to a movie?

I think The Glass Castle would make a good one. Also The Road.

Sorcery and Cecilia or the Enchanted Chocolate Pot and its sequels.

American Gods by Neil Gaiman

The Grand Sophy by Georgette Heyer

I'd like to see Harry Potter made into a BBC mini series. Tone down the special effects, include more details, get the characters right.

AMEN.

In fact, I'd like to see them add in a bit of sex and swearing just to be absolutely certain no one tries to add in extra action to appeal to kids.

I loved the book "Hard City" by Clark Howard, and always thought it would make an awesome movie, but it is very long and detailed, with quite a few details that would make it pretty x-rated... speaking of, I wonder why that is allowed in books but not movies. I got that book from my local library when I was 14. If this type of thing were a movie, there's no way I'd have been allowed to check it out!

Well, Ron certainly swears plenty. And in OotP he says, 'Can I have a look at Uranus, too, Lavender?' Fred and George make plenty of rude jokes that never made it into the movies. Peeves is a gold mine of nastiness and again, he didn't make into the movies.

Deathly Hallows has plenty of implied sexuality that I'm predicting will be toned down, if not skipped altogether.

The Children and Glimpses of the Moon, both by Edith Wharton.

Barbara Kingsolver's The Poisonwood Bible jumped right to mind.

maybe it would have overtones of Mosquito Coast? but i think the right director could pull it off.

The entire Pern Series by Anne McCaffrey.

Barbara Kingsolver's Bean Trees.

Narrative of Life of Frederick Douglass- there are several bio type films about him, but no movie and I was thinking something reminiscent of Roots (in style).

Black jewels by anne bishop. they are my favorite books ever. but lord only knows what rating it would get.. and i think people would get really up in arms about it and try to protest.... that would be kind of fun!

and i think the stephanie plum books would make fun movies.. or even a TV series.

I'd like to see Outlander made into a mini series. I don't think there is any way it could be made into a 2 hour movie.

The Red Tent would be another good one.

Oh, I would love to see "Good Omens" by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett made into something. A movie, a mini series, something. That was the best book ever

not a big fan of *my* books being turned into movies, but the first thing that popped into my head was Stargirl, by Jerry Spinelli.

Ooooh, the Red Tent would be super!

My choice is The Hunger Games.

From the first link it does look like a company has picked it up and may be starting to work on the movie at some point. I hate to see how they butcher it trying to cram it into a regular length movie.
