new to all this

HI,
I'm not only new to Mothering, but I've never posted a thread in my life--pretty amazing for a person who works from home on her computer.
I'm the mother of two, awaiting a third...and a little disconnected from friends and family here in northern Spain. I've been watching the streets like a hawk and have recently seen two women baby-wearing, so I have some hope of finding kindred spirits here...but after three years in this small town with VERY conservative parenting practices, I'm not holding my breath.
Anyway, just thought I'd finally get out and look for that natural living atmosphere, even if it has to be through a computer screen,

Hello and welcome to MDC!

Is there LLL in your region, for a start?

thanks

Thanks for the welcome!
We do have an LLL group near here, and I am a member of a local natural childbirth/childcare group--but unfortunately the meetings are about an hour by train, and most of the members live in the city, Bilbao. Every once in a while we get together for the kids to play and to have something to eat.

I do mix with a group of mothers in town, but an afternoon with them more often leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Childrearing in Spain in general is completely opposite from attachment parenting--and unfortunately mixing that with my judgemental character makes things a little harder than they should be.

Anyway, here we are in a beautiful town surrounded by mountains, with our garden, bike trails, hiking trails, and so far two very healthy, happy trilingual children--definitely livable.
