Mirena IUD and fertility

Thread Starter
I'm looking for personal experiences with the Mirena IUD. I have had mine in place for over 3 years; I plan to get it taken out in about a year from now and begin TTC. I'm wondering if I'll have any problems getting pregnant.

I'm also wondering if I should get it taken out 6 months or so before trying to conceive in order to let the hormones leave my system.

Thoughts/Experiences?

Thanks!

My mirena was placed at the end of June in 2008. It was removed on May 22nd (I had lots of issues with it), my period began on May 23rd, and I had a positive pregnancy test on June 30th. From what I've read, it's pretty common to be TTC as soon as it's removed and immediately get pregnant!

Mine was put in on Oct 2008, and removed on May 2009. And I am currently pregnant, it took two cycles. I had the same experience with my first time ttc, I removed the the contraceptive ring and two cycles later I was pregnant with dd. My OBGYN said thet your fertility should return right away. Greatest of luck.

I didn't have any problems after getting mine removed. I ovulated about a week after it was removed and have been pretty regular since.

Had mine in for about 2 years. Had it removed Nov. 7 and got a pos preg. test Jan. 11!

I did have some weird period stuff happening for the first cycle, though. Got pregnant the second one.
