Which Tempera Paints are Truly Safe?

I've noticed that Tempera paints tend to smell. Usually smell = toxic, unless it's from an essential oil (which I'm SURE Crayola did not include ). I need to buy some new Tempera paints, so I'd like to know what brands are safe/non-toxic TRULY, not by Crayola's standards.

Has anyone used Dick Blick's temperas? Do they smell?

Can anyone recommend a brand or an art store (other than Stubby Pencil Studio, which I've already checked)?

Thanks!

I've used Dick Blick and they smell, also. You can make your own tempera using equal parts egg and oil and adding pigment.

Thanks for the heads up. I ended up buying Colorations Simply Washable temperas from the DiscountSchoolSupply.com website. They hardly smell at all! I would have liked to get something even more natural, but no one seems to be selling a natural product in large bottles.
