Need different covers or more padding?

I have been using prefolds and covers while CDing DD. I have loved this method so much I have been keeping the mind set of 'why fix it if it isn't broken'. I have Chinese prefolds and Bummis Super Brites, Thirsties and Little Beetle Wool covers. I just bough all of these 2 months ago since it was time to size up. Well, we are leaking. Not a little, a lot. One minute she will be completely dry and then the next she is butt hoping wet spots on the floor. With our first and second round of covers I used Bummis Super Wisper Wraps and they were excellent. So, are these covers just crap? Or is she just holding it and then peeing a lot - I am leaning this way. If the peeing is the issue then it is clear that I need to boost the absorbency. I have been doubling with an infant prefold and it works better but her poor butt is huge. Her little legs are spread apart from the bulk of the cloth diaper and the infant prefold. This can't be good for her, right? What are your all suggestions about this? Has anyone else had bad experiences with these covers? Any ideas on doublers that aren't so bulky? A little advice would be much appreciated!!

To know whether it is the cover or the amount of absorbancy, consider how wet the diaper is when you take it off. Is it really soaked? Where is she leaking? Around the legs? Could it be the covers need to be more snug?

Even with prefolds, it is possible to get absorbancy issues. What kind of detergent are you using? What is your wash routine? Could someone have accidently put dryer sheets or fabric softner in there? Use a lot of diaper creams? Could be your diapers aren't absorbing as you want, if so, stripping might help.

Could be you just plain need more absorbancy. To get more absorbancy with less bulk, I would try adding a hemp or bamboo doubler. That would give you more absorbancy without the bulk of a pf.

Yeah, she is pretty wet when I change the diaper. I am really not letting her sit in. I can change her and an hour later she is leaking through. The covers are as snug as they can be and the actually cover is wet where it is leaking. It leaks around the legs where the gussets are sew in.

We use Soap nuts and always have. I do a cold rinse before washing. The I was in HOT with the Soap nuts. Sometimes I add baking soda with a vinegar rinse or TTO. We dont use fabric soften so that wouldnt be an issue for us. We do use diaper rash cream here and there but not every day or at every change. I will go a head and strip the diapers though. I think she may be getting a yeast infection anyhow.
