my friend is having her first baby... due any day now. her mw told her at 38 weeks that she wont be able to attend her birth b/c she is too overbooked and transfered her over to the ob's in her group. now - the ob's are actually fairly good... but regardless - 38 weeks? you couldn't have figured this out til now????

i am so angry for her, i think i may be angrier than my friend. i just feel like they really let her down and should have had their act much more together!!!!

i am also really worried that this stress may impact her labor. =(

That is ridiculous. I can't believe a midwife can do that! Your poor friend.

i know! i am so angry for her. they did have a midwife leave the group so they are going to busier and needing to tkae less patients. but that isn't her fault and i cant imagine doing that so far along. im going to be her doula and you know sometimes things happen for a reason, but still... ridiculous.

Oh no! With our first we had our MW up and leave the practice and never told us, I was leaving an appointment and went to make the next appt and the front desk said she had quit! I had just talked to her and she never even bothered to mention it to us! This was at 37 weeks. Luckily a fabulous MW took over our care so it worked out in the end.

Wow that midwife really screwed up. It is good your friend sounds at peace with it though. Maybe don't make her angry about it. You can be mad on her behalf.

Well if she decides she's not happy about it you might be able to help her research some other midwife options. Otherwise I would just try and support her as best you can (I would be livid for her as well!)

In Va there are definitely other options besides that group.
