Is Costco worth it? - Page 2

It's worth it for us, since we go through a ton of food. And we have the membership that costs more where they give you 2% or something back.

We get:

bread
fruit
soymilk
organic ravioli
granola bars
huge bags of frozen fruit
frozen pizzas for when the babysitter is here
sushi
Izzy soda for the kids
Annie's bunny crackers
Annie's macaroni...

I think it depends on what you buy there. I've found it is really easy to blow our entire grocery budget one week into the month with a trip to Costco. It's really important for me not to browse, and only buy the things we use regularly. We love the giant bag of individually quick frozen chicken breasts, their price for Red Bull , the Ling Ling Potstickers, contact lens care stuff, toilet paper, paper towels, and laundry and dishwasher detergents. I also bought a really large container of cinnamon there that is very strong and the best cinnamon I've ever had for a great price. But some of their prices on some grocery items aren't any better than I can get at Aldi or Woodman's (fabulous local chain). I comparison shop and many times if I just blindly assumed their price must be the best because it's Costco, I would end up spending more. For us the price of membership is justified on the Red Bull savings ! I've stopped drinking it and if DH stopped too, I'm not positive Costco would actually save us money. It might but I'm not sure.
