old legos?

Not sure if this is a good place to post this or not. feel free to move.

My son just got a huge supply of old legos from a friend and i was wondering if they are the same as the newer ones. Do they possibly have any chemicals in them like lead or what not? The colors seem different but every thing else seems the same. i want to make sure not to bring any toxic toys into the house after i spent months clearing them all out.

thanks for your help.

Logos have never been recalled for lead issues that I am aware of although there was a recent recall due to a puncture hazard. Lego uses a specially developed ABS plastic which does not contain lead or phthalates. They have used this ABS plastic since 1963 so if your Legos are newer that that, you're golden.
